(More customer reviews)Set in 1950s Utah and filmed on location there, "Outlaw Trail: The Treasure of Butch Cassidy" depicts 16-year old Roy Parker's search for the truth about his great-uncle, the infamous real-life Western outlaw Butch Cassidy (the alias of LeRoy Parker). The fatherless youth must overcome the opposition of his determined granddad, who scolds him, "I spent the better part of my life trying to live down the reputation that your hero has laid out for the Parker name and you grow up worshipping him." After a jailbreak engineered by Jess, his best friend, Roy and Jess are joined by two other teens in a chase for Cassidy's buried treasure, pursued by dangerous criminals. Superb cinematography takes full advantage of Utah's rugged scenery in exciting chase sequences by automobile, river raft, steam train, and even airplane. Roy Parker is played by handsome Ryan Kelley, familiar to viewers of the "Smallville" TV series. Only an implausible ending detracts from this entertaining family film, suitable for all ages.

Big Love: The Complete Third Season Review

(More customer reviews)I have read on several Web sites that the ratings for this show are only so-so. It's a shame more people aren't watching it. This show has attracted the best character actors in Hollywood. And what a dream it must be to play characters that are so complex and multi-layered.
I will admit, the storylines are all very similar. They all revolve around either Bill having some issue with his wives or Bill struggling against people who are trying to keep him from the business deals he wants to make happen. (This season is focused on making Weber Gaming a success and all the trouble the getting into gambling is causing him and his family). The thing is, even though there is a predictable pattern of going back and forth between family drama and work drama, all the people in Bill's life continue to evolve and we continue to see them grow and struggle.
I truly hope this show is renewed for a few more seasons. I am still very invested in these characters and want to know what happens to them.

Big Love: The Complete Second Season (2007) Review

(More customer reviews)I love this show! I really got a kick out of the first season and the second was even better. The wives are a delightful mixture of devils and angels. The second season is a bit more risque in that the sexual scenes are much more graphic. Definately not for children. As a member of the LDS Church that does not condone polygamy, I was at first interested in the show because I wanted to see how it portrayed the Mormon Church. But it really skirts the issue although there are subtle inuendo like LDS Church icons and landmarks in scenes of the show.
I love the way the wives interact with each other but most of all, love how they gang up on Bill or turn on him to get what they want.
The twists and turns with members of the sect at the compound and the power struggle between the two "prophet" heir families is interesting. Also bringing in another Polygimist sect "the Greens" was a completely new twist which I think we will see much more of in future episodes.
Overall it is a great show and I have my DVR set to watch or record each episode.

Big Love: The Complete Fourth Season (2010) Review

(More customer reviews)The first season was spent character building, laying down basic relationships and primary issues. The second and third seasons expanded on that, and in my opinion were incredibly. The third season was spectacular. But the fourth season was a complete disappointment. I will buy this season when it comes out, simply out of continuity, and I will continue to watch the last season because I'm emotionally attached to the characters and story, but my issue with the fourth season is one of plot development. In the previous seasons secrets and twists and clues build up, and get let out to create some really intense drama which is what gives the show its power. However, the fourth season had none of that. The problems were presented, and resolved soon thereafter. Most secrets were discovered in the same episode. There were no build-ups, and nothing left to the imagination. My guess is that the writers have really exhausted most of the problems and issues that could arise with this set of characters in the situation they're in, and there isn't much left to do. I really hope that the final season will redeem the series and end strong.
