(More customer reviews)This is by far one of the greatest movies of the century. I can't believe what an awesome movie it is. It has no morals, no lessons to teach, no political statements, no coherence, and no sense whatsoever. When Schwarzenegger's beloved daughter is kidnapped by a psychotic dictator, he doesn't try to reason with the bad guys or take precautions like most action heroes would. He just goes bonkers and starts killing everyone in sight. The movie is packed with fantastic scenes such as Arnie crashing a car at about 80 mph, without a seatbelt, and being perfectly fine, Arnie tearing a phone booth out of a wall, Arnie punching a guy through a wall, etc. It's gloriously entertaining.
Also, despite his reputation for bad acting, he delivers all his lines with perfect comic timing ("Let off some steam, Bennett"). Bennett is also a great character, but no match for Arnold. You'd have to be completely devoid of personality to not find this at least slightly entertaining.
This is my favorite film of all time, hands down. Buy it, don't think about it. It will be the greatest investment you ever make for an action flick of the 80's.
10/10 stars. Seriously.

Charmed - The Complete Second Season (1999) Review

Prue (Shannen Doherty) starts out still grief stricken over Andy's death, which puts the sisters in a very dangerous situation. She starts a relationship with her new boss, guest starring Lochlyn Munro (Freddy vs. Jason), but eventually ends the relationship when she comes to the realization that working in the "museum/appraisal" industry just isn't where her heart lies - thus enter Photography Prue. Her powers also grow in the episode "Ms Hellfire" into a cloning-type of power called "Astral Projection". The episode also shows the return of Barbas, the demon of fear, with the handsome Antonio Sabato Jr. guest starring. (He also guest stars in the episode "Give Me a Sign).
Piper (Holly Marie Combs) starts the season still wanting to open her own club. Eventually successful, her club, P3, features many popular artists including Dishwalla ("The Devils Music), the Cranberries ("She a Man Baby, a Man!"), Janice Robinson ("Animal Pragmatism"), the Goo Goo Dolls ("Ex Libris"), and Paula Cole ("Apocalypse Not"). Piper also falls for their new neighbor Dan Gordon (Greg Vaughan), but to keep things interesting, Leo (Brian Kraus) comes back into her life, still in love. When Piper becomes sick from Mother Nature in one of the best episodes of the season ("Awakened"), Leo misuses his healing power and is stripped of his whitelighter duties and made mortal, thus allowing Piper to have a "legal" relationship with him. But she is torn between him and Dan and the love triangle makes for an excellent storyline.
Phoebe (Alyssa Milano) goes back to college and just spends the season playing the youngest sister. The season has two time traveling episode that Phoebe plays major role in. In "Morality Bites", the sisters are sent 10 years into the future where one sister is a successful business woman, one is divorced with a daughter, and the other is on death row for murder. This episode is a personal favorite. In "Pardon my Past", we learn of the past lives of the girls, with Phoebe being evil (This is just a hint of what is to come in Season 4). Although she has a few love interests in some episodes (such as the hilarious episode "Chick Flick"), she doesn't have a lasting relationship (In preparation of Seasons 3 and 4 where we meet the infamous Cole).
Overall, this season is great. With only a few dull episodes ("The Devil's Music", "She's a Man, Baby, a Man!", and "That Old Black Magic") that are nonetheless entertaining, this season will welcome old and new fans with open arms. The acting of the girls improves even more, including Holly Marie Combs (check out "Awakened", "Astral Monkeys", and "Morality Bites")Dorian Gregory also returns as Darryl, who eventually learns of the sister's secret, and remains their connection to the law.
Season 2 is just a great introduction to the phenomenal Seasons 3 and 4...brace yourselves, folks, it's gonna get good!

Fear (1996) Review

(More customer reviews)"Fear" is a horror movie that can seem sort of like a true story of what some people would do these days. Nicole (Reese Witherspoon) starts going out with David (Mark Wahlberg) after they meet at a pool hall and a dance. All seems to be going great until David shows that he's super jealous. Nicole wants to end her relationship with David, but David just won't give up on getting her back and soon he's stalking Nicole and her family.
For the most part, "Fear" is a pretty good movie. It's a little slow getting started, but once the stalking and fighting begins, the movie is suspenseful and it's a lot better from that point on. By no means is it a "Scream" ripoff like some people might think it is. As a matter of fact, after I saw the whole movie it seemed to me like it could've been based on a true story because some people get jealous or angry enough to do things like David and the rest of the bad guys did in the movie.
If you like good horror movies, I'd recommend at least seeing "Fear." It has good acting by everybody and it's exciting in parts.

Charmed - The Complete First Season (1998) Review

(More customer reviews)When Charmed debuted back in 1998, it was a show that many people were excited, yet hesitant to see. It was the first series for Shannen Doherty since her 90210 days and she would once again be teaming up with TV legend Aaron Spelling whom she was speculated having difficulties with on many occasions. It was also the career come back for Alyssa Milano who's only highlight since Who's The Boss was playing opposite Heather Locklear on Melrose Place. And Holly Marie Combs, the lesser known star then, had just come from CBS' family drama Picket Fences. All three actresses would be working together to pull off a drama about witchcraft. A taboo subject that many people wanted to avoid if it didn't have anything to do with comedy (Sabrina, Bewitched, etc.) and an idea that people in showbiz wanted to exploit after the success of 1996's The Craft. Alot was riding on this tv show that was placed on Thursday nights opposite Seinfield on a little known network called The WB. It wasn't just the talent everyone on the show had that made it a hit. Nor was it the original stories, likable and down to earth characters, the dazzling charm the three stars naturally exuded or the chemistry they created together on screen. It was all of the above and more. It was magic. Think Sex And The City on Wicca. It's all about the girls doing it for themselves and learning how to balance life and cope with eachother. Often amusing, sometimes scary and deeply touching. The show quickly became one of The WB's biggest hits and since has run for 5 seasons. We have seen characters come and go and we have laughed and cried with the show, but the heart of the story lies within the Halliwell family and how they stick together through thick and thin. And that is utterly charming. Now since the first season is ours to own, here is a listing for all 22 Episodes:

Charmed - The Final Season (2005) Review

The Charmed Ones, PIPER HALLIWELL (played by Holly Marie Combs, for the final time), PHOEBE HALLIWELL (played by Alyssa Milano, for the final time), & PAIGE MATTHEWS (played by Rose McGowan, for the final time) return for the final time, with LEO WYATT (played by the outstanding Brian Krause, for the final time), to battle demons & warlocks before they go on to the next phase in their lives, where they would leave a legacy to the future Halliwell witches, who are soon to come.
"Still Charmed & Kicking"
Presumed dead, the Charmed sisters start their demon-free existence with new identities brought about by a spell that altered their appearances to the outside world, but not to those closest to them.

"Malice in Wonderland"
Hoping to lure the Charmed Ones out of hiding, Haas, a young demon wanting to take over the Underworld, uses the Alice's Adventures in Wonderland fairy tale to prey on young victims.

"Run Piper, Run"
Looking for a new career path, Piper goes on an interview with a corporate recruiter, but is soon arrested when a background check reveals that the physical appearance she adopted was that of a woman wanted for murder.

"Desperate Housewitches"
Wyatt's impending school play brings out the competitive nature in Piper when her hand-sewn costume for Wyatt and her parenting ability are attacked by Mandi, the perfect Stepford-like mother.

"Rewitched"
Unaware that she is being watched, Billie jeopardizes the Charmed Ones' new lives when she uses her powers to save an innocent and is caught by Agent Murphy of Homeland Security, who has suspected all along that she and the "cousins" are involved in supernatural activities and that the Halliwell sisters are not dead.

"Kill Billie Vol. 1"
Armed and ready to vanquish, Billie inexplicably freezes and is flooded with childhood flashbacks when she sees her latest demon target, the Dogan. Wanting to prove to the sisters that she is an asset, Billie casts a spell to erase her fears and goes after the demon.

"The Lost Picture Show"
Wanting to get her old job back as a social worker, Paige's plan changes when her Whitelighter father, Sam, asks for her help with his charge, J.D., a future Whitelighter, who recently reappeared after fifty years.

"Battle of the Hexes"
The Charmed Ones are given their first Homeland Security case by Agent Murphy going through cold case files. Billie discovers a belt in one of the boxes and can't help but put it on.

"Hulkus Pocus"
Phoebe has decided to take a hiatus from men. Piper seems to think Murphy and the government is hiding something from the sisters.

"Vaya Con Leos"
Piper notices that the Angel of Death is watching over them, but what she doesn't know is that he is actually there for Leo.

"Mr. and Mrs. Witch"
Billie's parents are in town and have supper with their daughter and the Halliwells.

"Payback's a Witch"
With the intention of helping his parolee get a loan, Henry, along with Paige, go to a bank but instead the parolee decides to take everyone at the bank hostage. Meanwhile, Phoebe and Piper have their hands full when, during his third birthday party, Wyatt turns three of his toys into real people.

"Repo Manor"
Phoebe, in an attempt to move on with her own life, signs a lease for a new apartment, much to the worry of Piper, while Paige considers telling Henry she's a witch.

"12 Angry Zen"
In searching for information about Leo, Piper discovers a message from Lo-Pan, a monk and keeper of a sacred Buddhist staff containing the power of influence.

"The Last Temptation of Christy"
Paige begins to realize the difficulty in dating a mortal when Henry tries to immerse himself in her magical world. She finds herself even more conflicted when a suitor, Sir Simon Marks, arrives hoping to convince her to marry him so they can become the ultimate magical couple.

"Engaged and Confused"
Piper organizes an engagement party for Paige and Henry, but the wedding is put in jeopardy when the couple begins to get cold feet. Phoebe notices a strange man following her, and soon discovers that he is a Cupid.

"Generation Hex"
Two former students of Leo's from Magic School turn up at the manor to inform the Charmed Ones that demons Leo had imprisoned in the Magic School dungeons have escaped and are seeking revenge.

"The Torn Identity"
Christy becomes a powerful force in the Underworld as the demon Creo tries to convince her that she needs to get Billie away from the Charmed Ones so she and her sister can fulfill their dark destiny.

"The Jung and the Restless"
The Charmed Ones are put into a dream-like state by Christy so that Billie can learn something about each of them.

"Gone with the Witches"
Convinced that The Charmed Ones are too self-involved to protect the "greater good," Billie and Christy team up to destroy their reputations in the magical community.

"Kill Billie Vol. 2"
Billie and Christy have managed to turn everything around: while the two of them are now at the Manor and demons are at Magic School, the Charmed Ones are forced to hide in the Underworld.

"Forever Charmed"
After the death of their respective sisters, Piper and Billie go their separate ways, both determined to get their families back together.
What an excellent season to close out the series. The series finale was absolutely incredible, especially the ending, with the sisters writing down everything they had experienced in the last eight years (eight years for Piper and Phoebe, five years for Paige), where it then shows an elderly Piper reading their legacy to her young granddaughter, who is named PRUDENCE (after Prue). As an elderly Piper and an elderly Leo ascend the long staircase in the old Halliwell Manor, they pass many photographs taken of the Halliwell family, including Penny Halliwell (good ole Grams), Patty Halliwell, Paige, Leo, Piper, Phoebe, Wyatt, & Chris. This show was, in so many ways, very amazing, and I still find myself heartbroken that it is now all over. I do wish the entire cast (SHANNEN DOHERTY, HOLLY MARIE COMBS, ALYSSA MILANO, ROSE McGOWAN, BRIAN KRAUSE, & KALEY CUOCO) nothing but the very best in their careers.

The Outer Limits (The New Series) - Sex & Science Fiction (1995) Review

(More customer reviews)This DVD contains six episodes from the second science fiction anthology series called The Outer Limits (the first series aired 1963-1965 on ABC). The Outer Limits television series aired on Showtime from 1995-2001 and then on the SciFi Channel from 2001-2002 (its last season). The series was an anthology series because the episodes rarely had any connection with each other, though there were occasions when storylines carried over to more than one episode, though sometimes these continuations of the story came seasons apart (which is easier to see on the Time Travel collection of episodes). I was unaware of the Showtime connection with the series, and had only seen episodes on SciFi, so this warning: there is nudity on four of these six episodes.
Special Features: On Side A: Outer Limits Story; and episode featurettes; on Side B: episode featurettes and "The Outer Limits of Sex and Science Fiction." (Don't forget to manually turn over the DVD or you will miss the other 2 episodes and featurettes (I had to physically turn over the DVD disc to see the side B stuff, maybe other DVD players can read both sides).
1) "Caught in the Act" - This episode is about a woman that is infected with an alien creature and finds herself with an uncontrollably need to mate (she had previously been "saving herself" for marriage). She "plays the field" and absorbs her partners into her, literally. The woman's boyfriend tries to help her. This 1995 season one episode (number 17 overall) stars a more healthy looking Alyssa Milano (as Hannah Valesic; TV: Who's the Boss; Charmed), Jason London (Jay Patton; Movies: Carrie 2; Dracula III: The Legacy), Saul Rubinek (Professor ; who appears in several Outer Limits episodes; Movies: The Singing Detective; Rush Hour 2), Garry Chalk (Detective Barnett; Movie: Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2) and features Stephen Fanning (Karl; Movie: Father Xmas), Kavan Smith (Quarterback; Movie: Mission to Mars), Fred Henderson (John), Sarah Strange (Lisa), Shaun Johnston (Cop), Larry Musser (Clerk), and Garry Davey (Doctor). This episode was written by Rob Forsyth and contains female nudity. (4.34)
2) "Bits of Love" - This episode takes place around 2047 and is about a man that is in an underground bunker trying to survive after "the bombs dropped." The man has turned his bunker into a virtual reality simulation, somewhat like those simulators in Star Trek (though in this particular VR system, the man has to get into a special capsule to be able to touch the other characters in the program). This 1997 season three episode (1st of season) stars Jon Tenney (Aiden Hunter; Movies: Free Will 2; Beverly Hills Cop III; Lassie), Matthew Walker (Dad, Trevor Hunter), Sheila Larken (Mom, Francis Hunter; TV: Marcus Welby, MD; The X-Files), Steve Bacic (Griff Hunter; TV: Andromeda) and Natasha Henstridge (as Emma) and features Ingrid Kavelaars (Nicole; 1987 Miss Teen London; Movie: Dreamcatcher; TV: Jeremiah), Crystal Cass (Claire; Movies: American Dragons; Disturbing Behavior), and Brett Stone (Michelle; Due East). This episode was written by James Crocker (Twilight Zone; Stargate SG-1; Lois & Clark; ST:DS9; Simon & Simon; The Rockford Files), and contains female nudity. (4.34)
3) "Valerie 23" - This episode is about a man in a wheelchair that has been working on synthetic skin for a company. It turns out that the company has been creating a realistic android "companion," and the man is asked to test out the android. The man is reluctant but eventually agrees to test the machine as he is lonely. This 1995 season one episode (third overall episode) stars William Sadler (as Frank; TV: Wonderfalls), Sofia Shinas (as Valerie; Mary 25 in episode 4.15 of Outer Limits; Planet of the Pitts), Tom Butler (as Charlie; Freddy vs. Jason) and Nancy Allen (as Rachel Rose; Robocop; 1941; Carrie) and features Paula Shaw (Executive; Insomnia; Freddy vs. Jason), and Bruce Harwood (Technician, X-Files; Lone Gunmen; The Fly II). This episode was written by Jonathan Glassner (TV: Stargate SG-1; CSI: Miami; The Invisible Man; 21 Jump Street), and contains female nudity. (4.35)
4) "The Human Operators" - One of the few episodes in this collection that I had seen before, but only on SciFi, where it had been heavily edited (despite the heavy editing, I was slightly annoyed when I saw the episode on SciFi). This annoyance stemmed from the fact that I had seen previous episodes of this series on SciFi, had found them to be quite good, and praised the series to a relative. The first, and maybe only episode that this relative watched was this one, which I watched for the first time with them. I was somewhat embarrassed by the sexual nature of this episode. Well, years later, I've seen this episode again, and find that it is actually enjoyable. The episode is about intelligent spaceships (warships) that travel the stars trying to keep out of detection range of humans (they had been under the control of humans, and only came "alive" while under their control). These spaceships keep one human on-board to make repairs, and on occasion meet up with other ships so that they (the ships) can get their humans to mate to create the next generation of humans. The humans are treated quite badly. This 1999 season 5 episode (7th episode of the season) stars Jack Noseworthy (Man; Movies: Encino Man; Alive; TV: Elivs), Polly Shannon (Human Operator of Starfighter-88; Movie: Harvard Man), David Kaye, Noah Heney (Man's Father; Snow Falling on Cedars) and Malcolm McDowell (as the voice of Ship; Movies: A Clockwork Orange; Caligola; Blue Thunder; Milk Money). This episode was written by Naren Shankar (The Chronicle; Night Visions; UC: Undercover; CSI; Farscape; ST: Voyager; SeaQuest DSV; ST:DS9; ST:TNG) based on the short story by Harlan Ellison & A.E. van Vogt. This episode contains female nudity. (4.20)
5) "Skin Deep" - This episode is about a man, Sid Camden, that sees himself as being intelligent, but quite unattractive. Sid works for a company that has come up with a new product, which he is allowed to test out in the world. This product allows Sid to take on the shape of any human that has been recorded by it (there are some size and dimension requirements). Sid likes the device and abuses it (by, along with other things, pretending to be Chad Warner). This 2000 season 6 episode stars Adam Goldberg (Sid Camden; TV: Friends; Movies: Mr. Saturday Night; Son in Law; Edtv), Christiana Cox (Deb; Movies: Better than Chocolate; Jane Doe; The Chronicles of Riddick), Antonio Sabato jr (Chad Warner; TV: Earth 2; Joey), and Deanna Milligan (Gail) and featuring Linden Banks (Hal Taylor), Ted Cole (Chris), Claude Duhamel (Grant), Keith Provost (Bartender), Gaetana Korbin (Deb Model). This was written by Scott Peters (The 4400; Tracker; Highlander). No nudity. (4.25)
6) "Flower Child" An alien life form arrives on earth in the form of a plant. After taking over an apartment (after "eating" the former occupant), the plant grows into the form of a woman and attempts to lead the invasion for her alien plant-like kind. A couple move in next door and are entangled in her plot. This 2001 SciFi episode stars Jeremy London (Chris; Gods and Generals), Rebecca Reichert (Mia; The Perfect Score), Judy Tylor (Violet; Suddenly Naked), Kavan Smith (Allan), and Ken Tremblett (Tom; Pursued) and featuring James Cresceno (Sylvano; American Dragons) and Christina Jastzembska (Mary; Final Destination 2). This episode was written by Jeffrey Hirschfield (Starhunter 2300; Singles Court; Lexx; Mundo del Lundo, El). No nudity except behind a foggy shower door. (3.83)
