(More customer reviews)I liked this movie, and I immediately watched some of the tracks (scenes) several times...such as the Naked Mile race and the underwear party. There was more nudity than I expected throughout the movie, and that alone made the dvd worth watching. And I plan on watching the dvd a couple more times. The comedy of the movie was OK (not top-notch...but OK), and some of the subplots were OK...such as the romance between the young Stifler and his girlfriend. And the young Stifler's girlfriend was cute and innocent...which was a nice contrast with other girls that were wilder. College girl nudity in this dvd includes: girl's locker room, stripping naked before the Naked Mile race and standing around waiting for the race to start, running naked and bouncing along for the Naked Mile race, and sex in several frat rooms. I can't remember the last time that I saw this many naked bouncing breasts...bouncing...bouncing (most were natural). But even after all the nudity, the girls at the underwear party were sexy too. There is some full frontal nudity for females during the movie, but not male full frontal.
I own some movies of the actual annual Naked Mile races in Michigan, but those movies were filmed with poor lighting and the picture is "grainy"...lacking in picture sharpness....because the Naked Mile race takes place at night (its dark...there's not enough light). But for this American Pie movie, they used proper lighting and equipment to show their version of the Naked Mile race with sharp picture detail...very watchable.
Overall, this American Pie movie was better than I expected. If you like college comedies with T&A, I expect that you will like it.

Maid-Droid (2008) Review

People believed in magic to explain the things they could not understand, and magic offered the possibilities to change or control our lives . In fairy tales, protagonists undergo certain trials or tests to be found worthy of some wish, and a magical spell is spoken to make the wish come true.
Today...
Technology is our magic, and passwords are our magic spells. But people still must prove themselves worthy of the things we most wish for: love, good sex, companionship, and happiness.
A man, now old, has had a robot maid since he was a young man, and she has served him selflessly. Unfortunately, she is an early model; later models have sexual upgrade kits that allow their owners to act out their fantasies and have sex with their droids. The early model maid wishes she could be more like a real woman so she could please her young owner sexually. But he does not care if she can't, he loves her. Years later, she is an outdated model; replacement parts are difficult to find and her batteries no longer recharge. The man has kept her anyway, because of his love for her. She sits in a corner, lifeless, yet he is content to carry on conversations with her.
This movie is a clever updating of the Pinocchio fairy tale, replacing magic with technology; and if you look closely, all the plot elements are there:
In the original story, being a human boy was the wish and honesty the test. In Maid-Droid, true love is the wish and knowing the difference between sex and love is the test.
In the original Pinocchio, there was a dark side to being a human boy and he was in danger of being swallowed up by it. Likewise, in Maid-Droid there is a dark side to love and sex: when sex is mistaken for, or replaces, love. The police are looking for a droid that is seemingly preying on women. The built-in faithfulness of droids has been warped into unwanted sexual attacks by a chimerical droid assembly.
If that weren't enough to draw the parallels, one character has had his personality transferred to a mechanical puppet after his death, so that mentally he may continue to live.
Along the way there are some very good science fiction elements (including Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics in full frontal display) and some very witty and convincing observations on male and female relationships and sexuality.
Essentially, this is a Japanese Pink Film-style version of the Spielberg/Kubrick film AI, which was itself a version of Pinocchio. Some viewers will find that moments of (too) precious tenderness are offset, jarringly, with scenes of crass (and pretty funny) soft-core sex. But you'll see this helps to drive the point home that good sex is love's reward. Not the other way round.
I give this movie 4 stars because someone needs to make this movie again with more polished production values and more sophisticated screenwriting; and when they do it will be a great film. Others might give it 3.
I recommend this movie, its fun, titillating, sexy, sincere, and clever, even with its flaws.

Species (1995) Review

(More customer reviews)While the film itself is a love it or hate hit kind of thing (as far as the story and actors and whatnot), I would like to rate the actual quality of the disk and what separates it from the dvd version.
The Blu-ray version of this movie is much better than all the other version. Better quality images, better quality sound, and you even get a cool glimpse into Giger's creative process with a extra on the blu-ray that shows him creating the "evil train" sequence.
Personally, I liked the movie - but I think what most people want to know is, is it worth buying the blu-ray version vs. the dvd version and the answer to that question is DEFINATELY!

(More customer reviews)First the warning and some quick intro here. If you are bothered at all by crude humor, look elsewhere. Like The Naked Mile, this movie goes for crude humor and plenty of gratituitous skin in what some would consider inappropriate areas. If you aren't looking for that type of movie, look elsewhere fast. As I wrote about The Naked Mile, this isn't golden globe or academy award calibre type stuff and you should know that going in. Complaining about the lack of taste in these movies is just a sign of ignorance of the product.
With that said comes this WARNING -- this particular movie includes or implies depiction of beastiality and a later simulated scene of same, so even those that aren't easily offended may find this movie takes things more than just a bit too far. END OF WARNING.
The humor is low brow, revolves around sexual exploits and college partying (alcohol and sex mostly) and mostly offers up excuses to show skin, skin and more skin... In doing so there's a fair amount of laughs and fun and if you aren't too uptight or too disgusted by the material from the warning above, then you might find this movie entertaining. Just go in with the right attitude to start :-)

Watch Out Review

(More customer reviews)There's been a lot of buzz about this actor Matt Riddlehoover (one very easy on the eye man) and this director Steve Balderson. I had to check it out for myself. The disc contains some 4+ hours of material. The film - with and without commentary - plus over an hour of bonus video blogs. I've seen a lot of movies, but nothing quite like this. I'm still trying to absorb what I saw and heard. This is a keeper to watch again and again and well worth the price of admission. Act 1 is way-over-the-top-bizzaro-titillating comedy. I kept thinking - where is all this leading? Act 2 take an unexpectedly darker turn until the end. There's ample nudity - OK, more than ample. Someone ask Matt Riddlehoover if he did his own "stunts" and he said "why, yes I did." I'd say this film is a must see to believe, but that's just my opinion. I'll be waiting for Part 2!

Pirates Review

(More customer reviews)The idea of Pirates was grand. If you have ever seen any of the other big budget porn pireate films like Conquest, you know what you are getting into.
For a movie that seemed to be planned well, had a big budget, actually casted extras, had costumes that seemed to be made for the movie, great special effects, props, and sets, this movie failed for one reason.
No one took it seriously.
It was obvious that everyone in the film had fun being a part of this ground breaking movie. But for all its fancy packaging, special effects, and elaborate sets, the acting reduced it to a cheesy 70's porn flick. I was waiting for a pizza delivery guy to ring the doorbell and a half naked girl answer the door with a phrase like, "I hope that comes with sausage".
I know it is "just" porn, and no one is supposed to take it seriously, but others have succeeded where this film failed. Michael Ninn's Latex/Shock series is a good example, of how to assemble this kind of movie and still have it porn. Just because it is a movie with porn actors in it, doesn't mean they have to act like the usual porn actors. They could try to get into character a little to make the movie work better than it did.
All in all the sex scenes are decent, a little too much slapping the face I thought, but decent. It is worth owning, but if you are planning on buying it because it is supposed to be some great legend of a movie and you think it will be changing the face of porn forever.... Go buy yourself a copy of Debby Does Dallas. The acting is the same and both have sex scenes in them. If you are buying it for the special effects, costumes, and sets, then all the power to you.

America's Next Top Model - Cycle 1 (2003) Review

(More customer reviews)I had never seen ANTM until the Fall of 2004, having missed the first two seasons. I have zero interest in fashion, but heard that, as far as reality shows, it was one of the most entertaining. It was always being talked about and quoted in Entertainment Weekly. So, during an ad break in one of the early episodes of LOST, I flipped over to ANTM. I've never flipped back to LOST and have been watching ANTM ever since.
The show is incredibly entertaining. And season 1 (which I had never seen until it was released on DVD) is a great season. You have all sorts of conflicts. The devout Christians vs the atheist being the biggest one.
The DVDs are well put together. Three discs. Four episodes on the first two and the finale on the final disc.
The only extras are three, short featurettes (each 5-10 minutes in length). One about the casting, one about the making of the show, and a final one about the two Jay's. They are fun, but nothing special. To be honest, when it comes to TV on DVD, I'm more interested in the show than any extras so I'm not upset with the set.
The set is well worth picking up. Even if you don't care about fashion or modelling. The cast makes the show work. A very entertaining series.

H.O.T.S. (1979) Review

(More customer reviews)In former days, that is to say once upon a time, when we first got cable this movie would air late at night over and over again. It speaks to a time when the point was to come up with a plausible reason for women to expose their breasts. This film overcomes that particular obstacle by putting the women in college sororities who then take each other on. Consequently there is the deep and meaningful message that we should all be more accepting of each other, and especially of women with large breasts.
In other words, this is not a date movie. This is not really a movie for people who have a realistic chance of going out on a date. This is not a great film, but for this particular genre it is certainly fun and if you are sober you will get quite a few laughs and not all of them at the expense of Danny Bonaduce. It has a warm spot in my heart because this was the film that introduced me to the skin flick genere on late night HBO. Not that I can see me telling the grandkids about it someday.
Yes, I remember seeing this movie on "Up All Night" and watched simply to see what they would do with the film's climax, the strip-touch-football game. You have to wonder about the thinking behind the fact that they shot the final scenes twice, once with tops and once withouts. Who would have thought there was some genius thinking about making this film available to network television?
Now, this film is available in a widescreen edition. The mind boggles. Is this a great country or what?

Live Nude Girls (1995) Review

(More customer reviews)You have to smile at the idea of all of those viewers, predominantly of the male persuasion, who took one look at the title of this DVD, and may be a second look at Olivia D'Abo, Dana Delaney, and Kim Cattrall on the cover, and decided to rent it only to end up being bitterly disappointed. You have to give credit to writer-director Julianna Lavin because she reneges on all three parts of her title. Working back to front, except for some flashbacks the characters are women in their early thirties and not girls, the nudity is more emotional than physical (and for the latter you have to look really quick and then wait for the end of the movie when there is a lot of water), and when there is nudity it tends to occur in fantasy rather than reality. So there are going to be people totally devoid of any understand of the concept or irony who are not going to like this movie and the fact that what substantive nude scenes exist are erotic as defined from the feminine perspective will just be seen as adding insult to injury by the same.
Those who should enjoy "Live Nude Girls" will be woman of the same ages as the characters. Jill (Delaney) is the gossip of the group, Jamie (Cattrall) is a B-movie actress who may or may not be getting married, Marcy (Cynthia Stevenson) is being blackmailed by her soap opera star boyfriend (Glenn Quinn), and Rachel (Laila Robins) is basically stuck being Jill's uptight sister. They have gathered at the house of Georgina (Lora Zane), who is bisexual and currently living with Chris (d'Abo), for what would be described as a slumber party as long as everybody involved understands sleeping will probably not be involved. What will be involved is talking, mostly about sex, which necessarily involves talking about relationships and get to talking about fantasies as well. There is not a specific plot against which these conversations are held. Jamie's fiancé is at his bachelor's party and she expects the worst, Marcy has reason to worry about Randy showing up, Jane has something she does not want to tell Rachel, and Georgina and Chris are having problems, but what serves as the climax for this movie is the sun coming up the next morning.
There is more humor to be found in this 1995 movie than profound insights. I liked the gender-reversal conversation that Marcy has with Randy, especially since a man would never dare have such a grin on his face while saying the exact same things, but for the most part it is the act of self-disclosure and not what is actually disclosed that matters the most here. Men are usually the subject of the film's barbs, which proves that boys will be boys when it comes to immediately picturing women naked and that men will as likely behave like boys as well given the opportunity at a bachelor's party. I was going to say that the weak part of the film is how it keeps the character of Chris on the periphery, which allows Georgina to indulge in flights of fantasy, but since ultimately I find the point of "Live Nude Girls" to be that talking and talking about everything is important, I have to admit the point is underscored in the negative by Chris's self-exclusion from the gab fest (and certainly reinforced by what she does during the finale in the pool). If Lavin gets her viewers to not only admit they should have their own slumber party, but actually end up having one, then she will have done well by making this film.

(More customer reviews)I grew up on low budget horror flicks of the 70s and 80s and over the years it's just not the same anymore. There's just something about these newer low budget horror flicks that are just overall rather bad. While there are some truly great low budget horror movies being produced it just seems like there are much more that are terrible.
Nowadays there are so many methods to shoot on besides film and movies are being produced on very low budgets that may not have been possible as little as 10-years ago. So due to that a lot of people who shouldn't be making films are now getting the chance. With a name like Zombie Strippers you know what you're getting into. A lot of movies coming out these days that aim for cult fans are kinda bad; when I say bad I mean they aren't enjoyable and lack compared to the movies they are homage's to.
Zombie Strippers on the other hand gets it right; again with a title like Zombie Strippers right off the bat you know what you are getting. It's kinda hard to mess a movie like this up. I think most horror fans like zombie movies and honestly who doesn't love strippers? So you get the best of both worlds. Zombie Strippers is schlock horror and never tries to be more than that, which is something that plagues a lot of movies like this these days.
The screenplay by Jay Lee is simply entertaining; the script isn't gonna win any awards and I don't think anyone is watching this movie for the screenplay. The goal was simple; entertain and that's exactly what it does. Jay Lee also directs and he actually works well with his limited budget. Where other filmmakers fail he succeeds. Bottom line is this; Zombie Strippers isn't a movie you watch to learn how to craft a film. I don't mean that as a knock against Jay Lee, like his script as director he aims to simply entertain and he does that.
He isn't trying to make one of the all time greats he isn't taking this concept and trying to play it straight. He's making a silly horror/comedy and that's it. The budget was quite low and I'll give Jay Lee a lot of credit for what he pulled off. Working on a budget this low isn't easy and he manages it well. A lot of filmmakers really fail with these kinds of movies, but Jay Lee knows what the audience wants and delivers that.
You know what I hate? Movies that have strippers, but yet they're never naked. What's up with that? Thankfully there's a whole lot of nudity. There's some zombie action early on, but after that the next 30-minutes are mostly spent with some very hot women getting naked. Due to that you'll never be bored with the lack of zombies. After the zombies come into play it's pretty much the same scene over and over again, stripper becomes a zombie, strips and kills someone, but yet it never loses the fun factor. Who knew strippers becoming zombies enhances their stripping skills.
Believe it or not the gore isn't bad. There's a lot of really bad CGI, but surprisingly enough there's some decent CGI and the practical F/X actually don't look bad at all. The movie would have been better off with more practical F/X, but for a really low budget flick the F/X don't look bad at all for the most part.
Some people have commented on the acting, but my question is what were you expecting? Did you really think there would be Oscar worthy performances? I think it's safe to say none of the actors will have Oscars in their futures, but they all put in the performances they were meant to. The performances are fun and never meant to be taken seriously; the actors get that and never try and be serious. Who knew Jenna Jameson could put in such a fun performances? Robert Englund also puts in a fun performance, but it's Joey Medina as Paco that steals the show.
Ultimate Fighter Tito Ortiz has a really funny cameo as a bouncer at the strip club. I'm not into ultimate fighting I'm more of a boxing fan, but I'm quite aware of Tito Ortiz and once the first zombie attack happens he's the first to haul out of there.
When it comes to Zombie Strippers you'll either hate it and think it's a travesty of filmmaking or you'll be entertained. Zombie Strippers isn't one of the greats, but it does serve as a fun time. It's got hot women, hot women naked and some gore. While not the perfect cult flick it's a damn good time.

Coming from SHOWTIME (the cable network resposible for the addictive and Emmy-nominated series WEEDS), the show, as the title suggests, is about a call girl and her daily struggles in balancing work and life in London. In Season 2, Hannah, played by the amazingly talented Billie Piper (of Doctor Who fame), is forced to balance a relationship for the first time with her work as Belle (the name she goes by with her clients). As the 10-episode season progresses, Hannah finds it to be increasingly difficult having a boyfriend, especially when he has yet to learn what she does for a living. Yikes! Witty and utterly charming, this series immediately captures your attention (given its subject matter of course) and holds on to it with great writing and captivating performances. Billie Piper truely shines in her role as Hannah and commands the audience's attention every single time she appears on screen. Piper brings a lot of heart to her character and is truely the driving force that makes this series so great. For anyone who wishes to get into this series, I would suggest watching Season 2 first and then maybe going back to revisit Season 1 later, b/c I found the second season to be much better than the first. Definitely check SECRET DIARY OF A CALL GIRL out. I promise, you won't be sorry!

Billie Piper does a wonderful narrative and lead heroine act, where she embraces the common taboos that society creates for itself, yet finds her own balance of the accumulation of pleasure, wealth, humanity, and even guilt. A great show, well written, well scripted, and yes, for those that appreciate the beauty of the female in general, you won't go wrong because this pretty much shows all her beauty, clothes and sans clothes, as well as her thoughts and hopes. I'm looking forward to seeing how this story unfolds with every episode. There is certainly more to this show than simple nudity, there is a humanity to it that is just as enjoyable.

Good Luck Chuck (Unrated Widescreen Edition) (2007) Review

(More customer reviews)Having seen Dane Cook as a stand-up comedian and been entertained by his humor and delivery, GOOD LUCK CHUCK seemed like an innocuous brainless evening entertainment. Unfortunately the story and script and direction are so sub par that even the most devoted of potty mouth movie fans will likely find this dud a bore. Hopefully Cook will be given better material for his next outing.
The story is meager but deals with a childhood hex placed on Cook's character, dentist Charlie Logan, which prevents him from finding lasting love: every woman with whom he sleeps (and there are countless encounters in the buff on endless multi-screen images) will marry the man she meets after her liaison with 'good luck' Charlie Logan. His obnoxious breast augmenter best friend Stu (Dan Fogler) sees Chuck's hex as a godsend for open sex, but when Chuck meets Klutz penguin trainer (Jessica Alba) and falls in love, there are problems - the solutions of which are so disgusting and unfunny that hardly need repeating.
This is a film, apparently with an audience (!), that is gross and so over the top that it completely wastes the talents of Cook and Alba. The film is being advertised as the 'chance to extensively see Dane Cook in the buff', but even that is an overstatement. Maybe if the viewer is on strong drugs....No, probably not even then. (More customer reviews)Everyone has their problems. This we are constantly reminded of in Timothy Linh Bui's latest film, Powder Blue. Linh Bui, who both wrote and directed this film, is a newcomer to mainstream film, having previously directed one feature-length film, 2001's Green Dragon.
Powder Blue is the story of a pivotal week in the life of four individuals struggling to keep their lives together. Charlie (Forest Whitaker) is an ex-priest battling suicidal tendencies due to the anguish of losing his wife. Jack (Ray Liotta) is a recently released hit man who recently found out about the cancer in his body. Qwerty (Eddie Redmayne) is an awkward, twenty-something mortician whose asthma acts up when he tries to talk to women. And Rose Johnny (Jessica Biel) is a stripper trying to pay the medical bills of her comatose son. Each is hurting immensely. Each is looking for some glimmer of hope.
This is a strange film in terms of the press that it has been getting. The overwhelming majority of articles and news surrounding this project have narrowly focused on the fact that Jessica Biel has a small handful of topless scenes. In fact, one online site boldly proclaims, "this film is always going to be known for one thing -- Jessica Biel was topless in it." Many other sites which have written pieces on this movie have uniformly dubbed Powder Blue "the Jessica Biel Stripper Movie." Commentary on the hyper-sexualized yet stuck in a 15-year-old boy's body nature of American culture aside, this film is much more than a stripper movie and will hopefully be remembered as a good piece of art, rather than the fact that one of the actors shows some skin.
The core of this film is the nature of love. What is love? How do we find it? What happens when we lose it? Everyone has their problems, but no one should have to face them alone. The characters understand this and each has a deep sense of the need for relationships, they just don't quite know how to pursue real and lasting love. Instead, their pursuit is initially selfish, built on what they themselves can get out of feeling loved and fulfilled in hopes that their problems will all go away. So Qwerty attends functions in hopes of getting a date. Jack attempts to restore and build a relationship with his daughter out of the guilt of never being there for her. Rose Johnny throws herself at men looking for someone to not only financially provide for her and her son, but also to treat her and love her as a woman rather than a piece of meat on a stage. And Charlie, the most desperate of the lot, cries out for help to anyone he can find, propositioning them to end his life for him in exchange for $50,000.
Each must discover, however, that honest love can only be so if both parties give of themselves to each other. Each of these characters must be willing to be vulnerable, to let others see the hurt and struggles that they are going through, and then be willing to let others help them and love them in ways that they never imagined anyone could. But again, this is a two-way street, and they must also be willing to do the same for others, allowing them to be vulnerable as well and to work with them through the pains and trials of life. It's only after each of the characters realize this that they are able to see glimmers of hope and redemption in their otherwise shattered lives.
Powder Blue is a fascinating film. Linh Bui has captured something very real and true about life, a feat which most of Hollywood either avoids or fails miserably at. He shows that life isn't a fairytale, hope doesn't come easily, and, again, everyone has problems. However, he also shows that there is true love out there, that there is hope and redemption even if such comes through the pain and hardships that each of us face in life, if we will only allow others in and allow others to help us through whatever it is we are going through, and be willing to do the same when the chance presents itself.
It is this writer's hope that this is what Powder Blue will be remembered for.

Crank 2: High Voltage Review

(More customer reviews)I enjoyed how unique the first Crank film was and this sequel is even more wild, but I liked it a lot less. Crank: High Voltage is a roller coaster ride that last 85 minutes and features some really gross scenes. For example, a guy getting a shotgun rammed up his rear end isn't even in the top three weird moments in this flick. There was one scene where a guy had to punish himself for letting his boss down, which I had to turn my head and look away (I can't remember the last time I did that). There is almost zero realism here, much like the original, only multiplied by a hundred. Jason Statham is the main action star in the business right now and he is pretty good at what he does. He went all out here and I'm sure he has nothing but bruises and a nice paycheck to show for it. The large supporting cast was better than average and Amy Smart was especially yummy. If you liked Crank (2006) you will probably enjoy this one well enough, but I think they should put this series to rest. Judging by the ending during the credits, I'm sure we can expect Crank 3-D: Zombie Chev in the near future.

Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (Extreme Unrated Edition) (2004) Review

(More customer reviews)I just got through watching this movie and I have to say that "Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle" is one of the greatest films ever made. You read that right. There have been other reviews on this site comparing "Harold and Kumar" to Cheech and Chong films, "American Pie", etc. All those people miss the point. Yes, this movie is about young people and, yes, this movie is about stoners, but, strictly speaking, those things are incidental. "Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle" is a classic and this movie is a classic because this movie "gets it"; it "gets it" like no other movie in the history of filmdom has ever gotten it. From the moment these two brilliant potheads see an advertisment on TV for White Castle they are on a quest, a quest for burgers. They go through a series of escapades involving racist cops, stolen marijuana, jailbreaks, junkyard freaks, Doogie Howser stealing Harold's car and so on and so on, each episode more insane than the last and everything screamingly funny. And through it all they persevere because they're on a quest. You see, "Harold and Kumar" is unique in the history of film because it understands that the point of cruising ... is cruising itself!!!! In what other country in the world can you hop onto an Interstate and then, 45 minutes later, you can buy these cheap little burgers with the little onions on them, 6 for $2.99 plus fries and a soda? Only in America!!! That's what the American Dream is all about: White Castle Burgers!!!! The point of the journey ... is the journey itself. There is so much sage wisdom in this movie: that "the universe has a tendency to balance itself out" (not unlike the Hindu principle of Karmic realignment?), that what a man wants is that feeling of satisfaction when he gets what he most desires (said by Harold while observing their two Jewish friends fulfilling their own quest at Hot Dog Heaven) or Kumar's observation that their parents came to this country because they were poor and oppressed ... and hungry. I'm not Asian, and I couldn't care less if Harold is Korean and Kumar is Indian; personally, I found Harold and Kumar to be two of the most quintessentially American characters I've ever encountered in a movie. And that's the genius of this film: this movie realizes that being an American isn't about race or ethnicity: being an American is a state of mind. I truly believe "Harold an Kumar Go to White Castle" will go down as one of the classics of cinema. And, no, I was not stoned when I wrote this.
