Dance a GoGo : Sexy Nightclub Workout Review

Dance a GoGo : Sexy Nightclub Workout
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have bought so many workout DVDs, and this is by far THE BEST I have ever bought because it has EVERYTHING a workout video needs. It has step-by-step instructions for each of the workouts. The dance music is hip and great. The dances are sexy and fun. In addition, the workouts here require you to move ALL OF YOUR BODY and keep your heart rate at the target zone AT ALL TIME!! You can tell that they actually spent a lot of time choreographing the dances and making this DVD. Everything is done by the very professionals instead of just some sexy/party girls dancing together in a basement. I am sure that many of you who have bought many workout videos will know what I am talking about. Most of the weight loss workouts are not fun or sexy, and most of the sexy workouts won't speed up your heart rate enough to lose weight. If you want a dance workout DVD with everything: that is fun, hip, and sexy; has nice music; teaches you how to dance; and helps you lose weight; this is the number one DVD that I will recommend. I think Andrea needs to put out more dance/workout DVDs.

Beastmaster: Complete Collection Review

Beastmaster: Complete Collection
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This review is for "Beastmaster: Complete Collection" 18 Disc DVD Set
September 29, 2008: "ADV Replies To Inquiry About The Scarcity Of 'Beastmaster: Complete Collection'."
I received an email from ADV concerning the scarcity of this DVD set, which I have placed, along with my email to them, in the comments [9/30/08--I have also copied a notice posted on tvshowsondvd.com concerning the cancellation of this set]. I was deeply saddened to read that the available copies are essentially "mistakes;" and those of us that have them are more than a little lucky. I can only iterate what the customer service rep states: "Hopefully ADV will be able to release this in the future." For all of you who have not been able to find it, I suggest writing to ADV encouraging them to release the set--squeaky wheals usually get greased!
Andre Norton's (noms de plume for author Alice Mary Norton) "Beast Master," first published in 1959, established themes that were common to many of her books: 1) the plot takes place in the open countryside, with only short episodes in a city environment. Protagonists usually move about singly or in small groups, and in conflict situations they are more often scouts, spies or guerillas rather than regular soldiers in large military formations; 2) locations are usually earth like places, where humans can live without special protection, and have extensive flora and fauna which are described in considerable detail and often have substantial bearing on the plot; 3) the presence of sympathetically presented feudal and tribal cultures (particularly Navajo culture); and, 4) the important role of animals--both ordinary ones, such as cats, and exotic fictional ones, like unicorns, whose characteristics are meticulously worked out. The animals are often highly intelligent without being anthropomorphic, acting as virtually full partners to the human protagonists and frequently they form telepathic links with each other. AND THESE THEMES ARE THE BEST DESCRIPTION OF "BEASTMASTER" POSSIBLE.
While the character in the book, Hosteen Storm, travels between planets within the context of these themes, the story line establishes the basis for the first movie, "Beastmaster" (1982). In the movie, the main character, Dar, plays out the themes within the context of a fantasy story set in an imaginary world of sorcery and magic: Dar, with the help of a "companions" Seth and Kiri, seeks "vengeance" against warlord/sorcerer Maax. "Beastmaster 2: Through the Portal of Time" (1991) renews the interplanetary nature of the book as Dar travels to earth, and its inherent "evil," technology, and lack "earthliness." Then in "Beastmaster: The Eye of Braxus" (1996) Dar, while wandering with his animal companions, chances to meet and "rescue" a family who seek the help of King Tal, Dar's brother and "King," against Lord Agon, a sorcerer who has conquered their land.
"Beastmaster: Complete Collection" (1999-2002), then, with some minor changes, picks up the story of Dar after the lands have been ransacked and Dar's family and tribe have been essentially wiped out. Employing Andre Norton's four basic themes, the television series' arcs parallel the plots of the three movies (which may be why both the second movie and the second season are often seen as the weakest by some). The arc of the first season tells the story of Dar (played by Daniel Goddard): (1) Dar finding out about who he is and what his hopes and dreams are; (2) Dar forming his "new family"--Ru, a tiger friend; Koto and Poto, two expelled ferret friends; Sharak, who was once a man (played by Daniel Fitzgerald), but was turned into an eagle because of his deep love for the Sorceress (played by Monika Schnarre); Curupira (played by Emilie de Ravin), a demon who is the guardian of all the animals and has granted Dar his ability to speak with the animals; and Tao (i.e., Seth), played by Jackson Raine, who is sort of trickster character with knowledge of plants and "Science;" (3) Dar's search for his soul mate, Kyra (i.e., Kiri), played by Natalie Jackson Mendoza--who is first captured by King Zad, played by Steven Grives, and then hidden by The Ancient One, played by Grahame Bond; and (4) Dar recognizing and attempting to understand the idea (also the over riding series arc) that the world is changing, civilization is advancing, technology is gaining ground slowly, the old orders of magic and sorcery are fading, and the world is threatened by the supernatural being Balcifer, the Dark One, played by Jeremy Callaghan.
The arc of the second season, as with the second movie, finds Dar and his companions coming dangerously close to loosing to the spread of "civilizations" or material culture, the damage of technologically "advanced" tribes, and the losses of Kyra (killed in the last episode of season one), Curupira, and the Sorceress--although he gains a new friend in a former enemy, Arina, played by Marjean Holden. Tao's ways of logic and science increasingly challenge and intercede into Dar's world; indeed, Xinca (visually looking like an Inca city) becomes the focus of many of the episodes, rather than the "outdoors/forests." "Tribal" customs are caving in face of rampant "civilized" materialism and greed. Dar's ability to be the Beastmaster is constantly challenged and eroded by events and actions precipitated by others.
The third season arc, like the third movie, brings the story full circle, as Dar finds out from Dartanus (played by Marc Singer, who "poetically" played Dar in the three movies), a Spirit Warrior, who informs Dar that he is really the son of King Eldar, who was killed by Balcifer the last time he attempted to take over the world (the first "Beastmaster" movie?). As such, Dar is the only person who can stop Balcifer, the Dark One, from taking over the world by "rescuing" his family, who were turned into animals by his father to protect them from Balcifer's previous attempt to take over the world. Again, this all occurs within the context of Andre Norton's four themes.
"Beastmaster: Complete Collection" is fantasy cinema at its best. The stories are often fantastical, humorous, educational, and entertaining--like any great "tribal" or "trickster" story. Episodes frequently include stock footage of various wildlife that adds to the vastness of the story. Season 2 and 3 have some interesting question and answer bonus features with Danial Goddard. The only real blemish is with the DVD editing, as the breaks for commercials are frequently poorly done. If you are looking for good, fun, entertainment, "Beastmaster: Complete Collection" is top notch. I have contacted ADV Films to inquire as to why this set is out of print already, as it just came out on August 5, 2008! So, hopefully, I can update this with their "justification" for not making this set more available.
If this review was not helpful to you, I would appreciate learning the reason(s) so I can improve my reviews. My goal is to provide help to potential buyers, not get into any arguments. So, if you only disagree with my opinion, could you please say so in the comments and not indicate that the review was not helpful. Thanks.

Bollyrobics Dance Workout Review

Bollyrobics Dance Workout
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This DVD comes in several languages: English, Hindu, Spanish, French, Japanese & music only (same beat for all menu choices).
It has 3 different dances, Maahi Ve, Chaiyya Chaiyya. Each section is 30-35 min each w/a warm-up, step by step, the 3 min dance performance itself & a cool down. The warm-ups & cool downs are all the same for all 3 dances.
From their website:
Songs from Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Bombay Dreams" and the Bollywood film "Kal Ho Naa Ho" (Indian Love Story -- Tomorrow May Never Come) featuring Shahrukh Khan provide the music to 3 dances, each with an increasing level of difficulty and unique style which varies from playful and sensual to dynamic and powerful.
The woman on the dvd, Julia Casper, is the one dancing. At the dance portion, it's just her 3x with computer graphics.
Warm-up - uses basic dancing you will use to get you into it before the step by step portion.
Step by step - shows you the moves, she does break it down, such as only showing the veil first, then the veil & feet & then finally adding the hands. She even does it at a slower pace for faster moves before going normal speed. Each move is done at least 4x if not many more times. She gives great body movement cues, not just counts in 8s.
Cool down - is nice, added head rolls like the warm up, but also adds some standing fwd bends, lunges to really stretch.
I enjoyed Julia's presence, the breakdown was easy to follow & I felt more aware of my body to move better. I don't like this style of dancing as much as Latin or belly dancing or even hip hop, but there were a few moves I thought were great. Julia's style actually encouraged me to get into it more then I would have.
I took off 1 star because of lack of music during the step by step which made it drag on & boring (music only option will come in handy if replay it at later date). Though practice repetition is great & needed for any dance instruction, with the slower down & breakdown, there did not need to be so much, especially on moves that would not get the heart rate up. If these were aerobic moves, that would be great as exercise, but most were easy & required little physical effort.
After completing the step by step once, I will only replay the dance portions only for aerobic workout. I would love for Julia & production to put out more dances of different styles with my suggestions in the future.
Their site is bollyrobics com & all 3 dances are on youtube in all the languages.

HIP HOP ABS DANCE PARTY - Rockin' Abs and Hard Body Workouts - Includes 5 Minute Ab Blaster - Shaun T (2007)

Ok,
So I loved these workouts since I've gotten them. I had the first Hip Hop Abs series you see on television. The deal for those was just so sweet and I figured why not try it. :)
I loved that first series!! So I was super hopeful for this one.
When you first start working out and stuff with the videos, unless you've taken dance classes, you may feel like a bit of a doof trying to do these pretty cool moves, but eventually (like 2 workouts) you'll feel good and can do them fine. You totally feel like you're there and Shaun T is just super funny.
Ok. ok.. so about this workout.
The First workout I did was Rockin' Abs. Let me tell you the difference between the first set of DVDs and the Dance Party series is significant. The moves are almost all new and it starts out fast. If you have the foundation of the first videos you'll be fine though. The music is really good too. I didn't recognize any of the songs from the radio, but I enjoyed them.
The workout itself is challenging. You do some floor work, but one of the hardest exercises was when you do a push up and at the same time you extend your leg out to the side and you do it on tempo (those who do these DVDs know what that means). For those who don't want to do that move, like me on the first try, Tonya does a simplified move for us.
The workout is great and you can totally feel the ab workout. The floor routine isn't that hard, but you do get a nice stretch. All and all a great workout.
Then there's the Hardbody workout. It's 100% delicious!
Great music, great moves, high energy and you'll be smiling through most of it, while you're able to learn new moves. I loved this workout!!! It worked out the upper body and the lower body, but I'd say it's more of an upper body (arms and abs than lower body). You totally get your cardio in and you will probably sweat.
I really, really loved this video a lot. Like the other video (don't think I mentioned it) but you can use your weighted gloves or the weights. I'd wait to use both until you know the moves (if you think that's not heavy enough.
Hope this helped!

American Pie Presents: Beta House (2007) Review

American Pie Presents: Beta House (2007)
Average Reviews:

First the warning and some quick intro here. If you are bothered at all by crude humor, look elsewhere. Like The Naked Mile, this movie goes for crude humor and plenty of gratituitous skin in what some would consider inappropriate areas. If you aren't looking for that type of movie, look elsewhere fast. As I wrote about The Naked Mile, this isn't golden globe or academy award calibre type stuff and you should know that going in. Complaining about the lack of taste in these movies is just a sign of ignorance of the product.
With that said comes this WARNING -- this particular movie includes or implies depiction of beastiality and a later simulated scene of same, so even those that aren't easily offended may find this movie takes things more than just a bit too far. END OF WARNING.
The humor is low brow, revolves around sexual exploits and college partying (alcohol and sex mostly) and mostly offers up excuses to show skin, skin and more skin... In doing so there's a fair amount of laughs and fun and if you aren't too uptight or too disgusted by the material from the warning above, then you might find this movie entertaining. Just go in with the right attitude to start :-)

Pushing Daisies: The Complete First Season (2007) Review

Pushing Daisies: The Complete First Season (2007)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Alternately funny and whimsical, PUSHING DAISIES is a visually distinctive romantic comedy that encompasses a truly winning mix of ingredients. With its modern fairy tale settings and exploding color schemes - along with perfect but unobtrusive narration by Broadway veteran Jim Dale - comparisons to the work of Tim Burton are all but unavoidable. (In a good way.)
As in his previous outing (DEAD LIKE ME), series creator Bryan Fuller explores the great beyond but this time the results are much more impressive. The entire series centers around Ned (an utterly charming Lee Pace), who - at an early age - discovers that he possesses the power to bring the dead back to life with just a touch of his finger. The tradeoff? If he touches that person again, they will remain dead forever. And leaving the dead resurrected for longer than a minute causes someone else in the immediate vicinity to die. Cruel? Perhaps. But the universe demands a cosmic balance - and this is its solution.
Ned - the owner of a fairly successful pie shop known as `The Pie Hole' - uses his unique gift to earn a living in two ways: His astonishing pies, where his special touch invigorates the fruit with incredible flavor; and helping a detective (Chi McBride), who accidentally witnessed Ned's gift first-hand, solve murder cases. How? He revives the victims long enough to find out who killed them and then the two of them split the reward money. This can, and usually does, lead to near dangerous adventures for the two of them. Sounds exciting - but as Ned's co-worker Olive (the adorable Kristin Chenoweth of Broadway's WICKED) points out, it's a detached, emotionally frigid existence.
That is, until Charlotte enters his life again.
Charlotte or "Chuck" as she is called (played by Brit actress Anna Friel), is the girl Ned loved as a child before she moved away. When Ned and the detective discover the murdered Chuck on one of their cases, Ned brings her back to life for a sizable reward but can't bring himself to kill her, creating this dilemma: Although Ned and Chuck are strongly drawn to each other, they can never, EVER touch.
PUSHING DAISIES is loaded with stars from film, TV and the stage (Paul Ruebens, Raul Esparza, Molly Shannon, Swoosie Kurtz, Ellen Greene, Christopher Seiber, Barbara Barrie, Grant Shaud - to name but a few), and it's clear that everyone is having a marvelous time. The series is filled with tons of clever touches and Lee Pace, full of childlike vulnerability, is an immensely likable lead. His palpable longing for Anna Friel's Chuck is both sweet and touching. Seldom, however, has a series predicated on keeping two characters romantically apart established such a seemingly insurmountable barrier to insure that they remain that way.
As long as the creators can sustain the high level of entertainment that the first (as of this writing) nine episodes have provided, one can only pray that this highly original and gorgeous looking television experiment keeps going for years to come.

Every not-so-often, along comes a show that's different. Wonderfully different. Pushing Daisies, TV Guide's Matt Roush writes, "restores my faith in TV's ability to amuse, enchant and entertain." It's the story of Ned, a lonely pie maker whose touch can reanimate the dead. Cool, but there's a hitch. If Ned touches the person again, the miracle is reversed. If he doesn't, a bystander goes toes up. What to do? Easy: Team with a private eye, bring murder victims back just long enough to discover whodunit, and collect the rewards. Things go well until Ned's boyhood sweetie is the next dear departed, and he can't resist bringing her back for keeps! Dig the wit, style and quirky romance: If you're not laughing, you may need a visit from Ned.

Shaun T's Rockin' Body - Disco Groove Set - Includes 4 Workouts - by Beachbody (2008)
Average Reviews:

Always set on stage w/lights & audience
Mark, Move & Groove - 15 min
6 dance moves, mostly marches, shimmy, hand movements w/standing crunch, 2 taps out, grapevine, 2 steps & cha cha, all dance, a quick & easy workout. Only bad thing is an annoying LOUD BEEP to let you know when to start the move after Shaun teaches it. Drove me NUTS.
Disco Groove - 35 min
This is pure dance that really works the obliques, even tough I don't normally like disco, they really made this a lot of fun.
Party Express - 25 min
Mostly dance w/some regular hopping & running in place.
Shaun T's Dance Party - 43 min
This is mostly dance as well w/a bit more regular hopping & hand jives, though has a great cool down. I didn't like this one as much for some reason.
As always, he breaks down every move so you are first just stepping side to side, then adds more, then the upper body, then the style, Always easy to follow & he always has fun & demands you have fun too & not dance half-heartedly. I love how he has fun, though sometimes he talks to the camera too long when you're doing step touches before learning a new move or after finishing a "routine," though maybe those few seconds are for grabbing some water.
I would love for him to do a straight dance workout that incorporates more complicated dance moves.

HIP HOP ABS by Shaun T - Maximum Results Set - Level 2 - Fat Burning Cardio, Ab Sculpt, Total Body Burn (2007) Review

HIP HOP ABS by Shaun T - Maximum Results Set - Level 2 - Fat Burning Cardio, Ab Sculpt, Total Body Burn (2007)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Sean T. is very friendly, personable, confident, jokes around, is truly into dancing & wants to share it. He can be compared to Will Smith's personality. He's relaxed & actually talented & fluid when he dances. He really does everything slowly at first before going to temp & breaks most of the moves down. The workout portion he does all at once, no stopping/starting like most high end fitness videos & he talks with the dancers. He uses the same backup dancers for all the workouts & other portions. When he remarks on a song, you know he hears what you hear so they are on beat. He never let's you stop moving on these workouts, you can only go down to step touches w/standing ab crunches. Each section you can decide if you want the music much louder drowning out Shawn's or hear his voice w/music like most workouts. The production quality in everything is great, lighting, camera angles, editing, sound quality, etc. except the music which I listed below.
Disk 1
FAT BURNING CARDIO - 43 min
This may have looped dance beat music, but I LOVE this workout. Why? It's 80% real dance moves! Hip Hop ab flexing, dip, stomping, frat step, dip side/side, double dutch, kick/knee, washing machine, etc. He even repeats some moves in a routine to keep you going. The only non dance moves were a little jumping jacks though he tries to add a little flava to it, hoping (though more side to side like hip hop) & simulated jump rope. THIS is how ALL his workouts should be.
AB SCULPT 2 - 32 min
The music is looped back beats, but not too bad, better then most fitness dvds. But very disappointed since they said real music in the tv ads. Most of this aerobics section is using weights or weighted gloves. There were about 5 real dance moves, the rest aerobics with a lot of emphasis on standing ab crunch types, knee lifts & kicks. This portion I'll admit made me sweat, though, as I've said, I don't like aerobics & was hoping for more dance moves like the tv advertisement. Mat Work (10 min) Easy plank on knees w/arm raises, then normal plank with 1 knee to chest, then 1 arm raised. Those were nice & challenging. The rest is easy, just sitting with feet on the ground & twists or arm raises weights. Ends with child's pose, sitting fwd bend, cobra, reclined kneed to chest spinal twist.
Disk 2
TOTAL BODY BURN - 45 min
Ok, after viewing now 7 of his cardio/toning workouts within a month (not counting the dance floor ones), I can definitely see a lot of repetition. Like the level 1 total body burn, this has a lot of free weight use, much more jumping jacks & simulated jump roping then all the others, plie/jump up in air, think some kicking & punching. I have to admit by now I was getting bored with seeing the same moves & FFWd a lot. There were a couple dance moves, but most were all done on his other dvds & like said, almost all done on Fat burning Cardio 2. The only new move that had was doing the butterfly with both arms & both legs at the same time with weights. That is a fun, old school move. Mat Work (10 min) the first 4 min are more dance step moves, one hard of touching you hand to ground & back up again. Suddenly you drop into push ups 8x, step touches in between, push ups, step touches, that ab "c" of sitting on your butt with knees bent & turning torso ( I find easy & do yoga boat pose instead).
Learn To Dance "Get abs or die trying" - 21 min
Club looking place w/lights & a dance floor (like the commercial), Shawn w/3 female & 1 male dancer showing a pretty stylish dance routine they teach you. He shows you the routine normal speed, then teaches the lower body 3-4x 1/3 speed, adds the upper body 3-4x 1/3 speed, then both at 1/3 speed 3-4x, then normal speed 3-4x. He doesn't count much at all, he gives you body cues of what to move & direction. When connecting the previous learned moves to the present moves, he will go slow 2x to help you connect them together. This is the best way to teach & I'm very happy he's teaching it that way. At the end, you only do it 4x in a row w/o stopping.
I tried to do this & I was completely lost even on the first set of about 5 moves (he taught about 5 moves in the level 1 as well but since beginner's were familiar I didn't have much of a problem). I wish he would only teach 1-2 moves depending on complexity about 2-3x 1/2 speed & 5x normal speed before moving. For moves such as these, it's needed. I will try this again sometime in the future.
Like I said in the Total Body burn, a lot of repetition & too much aerobics & not enough dance moves. All I want is dance moves that are repeated several times before moving on to keep the heart rate up. That's dance aerobics (though most unfortunately are watered down). Dance instruction is teach 1-2x 1/2 speed & normal speed 1-2x which I don't like. Not sure how long "Hip Hop Dance Party" has been out, but his "Rockin' Body" just came out this month & I hope they have that, but I'll wait for reviews before trying. Kelly Peters: Make It Happen - Hip Hop (2006) Review

Kelly Peters: Make It Happen - Hip Hop (2006)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have rented every single dance video for breakdancing, hiphop, and krump available on Netflix (about 30) and bought the rest(another 10). This one is the best for hiphop. Most hiphop videos teach you a routine that requires about half of a large room by yourself to do and no way would help you in any social situation. This video teaches you moves that can be done in little space like in a typical party. Most of the videos also have lots of jazz type moves that are a little ridiculous. Not this one. Finally, the instruction is slow and paced so you can actually learn the move rather than watch the blurr and try to decipher it with the various slow motions of the DVD player (which is too time consuming). I love this DVD.
If you like this one you might also like "Breakdancing Fundamentals" as it is another well put together DVD, albeit with a different style of dance. There are some other good breakdancing videos out there, but nothing decent in the hiphop genre that is practical and wellmade.
I beg Kelly Peters to come out with volume 2!!

If you want to learn Hip Hop, Kelly Peters will Make It Happen for you! Kelly’s "One Step at a Time" teaching method introduces new production techniques that make it easy to learn even the hardest moves. It’s simple to follow because he reverses the picture, so it’s just like looking at a dance studio mirror. As a result, when Kelly says "Go right", he moves to your right! He also takes time to break the movements down, very slow, so you don’t have to keep rewinding and he uses lots of close ups, slow motion, and split screen so you really get the details of the moves. Kelly teaches the building blocks of true Hip Hop which you can use to make your own combinations. He also explains the elements and history of Hip Hop culture. Kelly is joined by his crew of real kids who help demonstrate dances like The Freak, The Prep and the Bus Stop. The DVD includes special features and three bonus moves: The Harlem Shake, The Wave and The Baby Freeze.

The Librarian - Quest for the Spear (2004) Review

The Librarian - Quest for the Spear (2004)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Noah Wyle is charming as Flynn, a professional student turned reluctant hero when he finds himself named The Librarian, and is charged with guarding a number of priceless artifacts he previously thought were only the stuff of myth. Flynn's race to recover the stolen section of the Spear of Destiny and prevent the Brotherhood of the Serpent from finding the remaining sections is Indiana-Jones-esque action and adventure at its light-hearted best.
Jane Curtin and Bob Newhart display their usual dry wit, with Newhart's scene with the bad guys near the end of the movie alone worth watching the movie for. Olympia Dukakis plays Flynn's mother, who wishes her boy would just find a good woman and settle down.
This is entertaining fare, a nice mix of action, adventure, brain teases and yes, a bit of romance. It isn't a big-budget Raiders of the Lost Ark production, but for a made-for-TV movie it does a fine job, and holds up on repeat viewing.

College Road Trip (2008) Review

College Road Trip (2008)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
College Road Trip [Theatrical Release]
College Road Trip is a slap-stick comedy that is a great movie to take your kids to, as long as they are young. The main criticism I have of this movie is about the marketing, since most kids that are college bound are probably too old for this. The jokes are very predictable humor. If your kids are older than 14, they will probably find this style of humor too childish for their tastes. In that way this movie is a missed opportunity for Disney to expand their market to all the older Martin Lawrence and Raven fans.
If you've seen the trailers, you pretty much know the entire story. Dad (Martin Lawrence) takes daughter (Raven) on a road trip to check out colleges. Antics ensue.
Martin's character is a very over-protective police chief who is a bit of a control freak. His daughter has long outgrown being daddy's little girl. He wants her to stay local for college, but she wants to go away.
There's a genius younger brother and a pet pig to add the cute factor. There must be a lot of young geniuses out there because little brothers never have normal intelligence in movies or TV anymore, but I digress. Raven's friends are cliched teenaged valley girls who aren't even from the valley.
Most people who initially may be interested in seeing the movie are either Raven fans or Martin Lawrence fans. Yet this movie was made for an audience of much younger kids.
I am a huge Martin Lawrence fan and I think Raven is very talented and funny. But both of them were under used in this movie. Martin Lawrence is frequenty upstaged by his co-stars, and Raven does a good job but doesn't have the best lines. In fact, Will Sasso, Donny Osmand, his daughter, and the pig are the highlights of this movie. And they don't have enough scenes to make this movie really funny for adults.
Young kids from 5 to 12 or 13 will love the jokes. College bound kids will find themselves wondering why they called this "College Road Trip" when it's clearly designed for kids that aren't even out of grade school.
Overall, this movie is somewhat disappointing. It could have been so much more with the cast that they collected here. If you've got a group of young kids and want to take them to a fun and wholesome Disney movie, this is it. If you're kids are college bound, or even high school sophomores, they probably would rather see something else.
Enjoy!

COLLEGE ROAD TRIP stars Martin Lawrence as Chicago cop James Porter, an overprotective father who wants to keep his college-bound daughter, Melanie (Raven-Symone), close to home. When the smart, assertive Melanie declares her intention to attend Georgetown instead of Northwestern, James insistently sets out with her on a cross-country car journey to Washington D.C., hoping to dissuade her along the way. En route, of course, plenty of hijinks ensue, including scenarios involving a precocious pig and, oddly enough, Donny Osmond, who turns up as an eeriely cheery dad also on a college-touring campaign.
