(More customer reviews)The basic information of the series is this The stories main character Kenichi Shirahama who after being bullied at school for sometime even from some of the students of the martial arts club he tried joining to defend himself finds a young well endowed female transfer student by the name of Miu Furinji being set upon by some of the bullies fears for her safety but feels he can't do anything about it, but as he finds out she herself is quite a skilled martial arts fighter after seeing her defeat the pack of bullies easily, after trailing her unknowingly to her dojo home he sees the martial arts masters she lives with and after a somewhat forced pushing from one of the masters becomes their student. But after a few fight wins he now finds himself being faced with new opponents who are looking to reach the top by knocking off the stronger fighters that Kenichi has unknowingly placed himself in.
The second season deals more with Kenichi having to face the Eight Heavy fist of the gang called Ragnarok in battles as they try in dissolve this problem to their group that Kenichi has caused with his heroics, and as with each of the Ragnarok fist he faces proves to be more powerful than the previous one forcing Kenichi to train harder in order to defeat the next challenger of Ragnarok. Also as he reaches the final fighters he'll meet a person in his past whose joined Ragnarok because of their past with Kenichi and who holds a deep grudge against Kenichi for their past together. The series gives a nice closing of the anime somewhat but also leaves it open as it still leaves some questions too so it looks like we may see another season of Kenichi which I do hope for. Again the animation and soundtrack for the series fits perfectly and the voice cast for both the Japanese and English crew did their parts very well too playing their character roles perfectly. The video is standard format in the set comes like the usual Funimation box sets now a days with two dvd slim cases put into a paper sleeve, the extras aren't anything to shout about just the trailers and textless intro/ending songs.So if you already got the first season box set than finish the collection right away and if you're still not sure about the series check out the Funimation website for a few episodes you might be shocked about how enjoyable the series is for you....

`Sex Around the House' is one in the `Loving Sex' series, instructional videos designed to help couples through different aspects of sexuality. If you've never watched an instructional video this is going to be an interesting adventure.
Since I wasn't sure what to expect from this video, my partner and I debated on getting comfortable or making a pizza before watching the festivities. Since this technically was work, we decided on the pizza which I threw in the oven, grabbed my notebook, then hit the play button.
It opened with a sort of `man on the street' scene in which a woman was asking passersby what they would do with assorted household objects - a rolling pin, a spatula, a feather duster, and much to my partner's horror clothes pins. While the people were hesitant to offer uses for these items, they came up with some typical and humorous responses. From there it took us to the actual introduction where Julie Ashton, a bright and blonde woman is seated at a sofa interviewing Dr. Ava Cadell. Dr. Cadell is one of the nation's leading sexologists. She was dressed professionally, had dark hair, and if I thought Julie was bubbly, Dr. Cadell bubbled over with enthusiasm for the subject matter.
Sex Around the House - is about finding new sexual pleasures right at home. Julie goes on to invite Dr. Cadell into her home. She explains that she is having several couples over for the weekend and that she'd love the Doctor to give them a personal lesson. The doctor agrees, and we then are transported to Julie's home. What follows is the introduction of Julie's friends to Dr. Cadell who goes on to show the same items that were offered to the people on the street. She again asks for suggested use, but then offers a few ideas of her own -along with a warning that items used for sexual purposes should not be used for everyday purposes. The strangest had to have been the pasta spoon. The doctor suggests that you can use it by rubbing it lightly up and down your partner's body or stroking it through their hair. She encourages the group to look at everything in their home as a potential sex object. Think about how the object can heighten your senses.
After the doctor leaves, the video goes through a series of scenes showing each of the couples as the have sex utilizing Dr. Cadell's advice - sex in the laundry, the kitchen, the bathroom, the office, even a closet. The most novel idea I thought was by using the phone to call your partner in another area of the house and then engage in some foreplay phone sex.
Obviously, not everyone has a home as well put together at Julies. Rooms dedicated as an office/workout room or a sunken tub in their bathroom are not the norm, but I could see how the concept could be adapted to any household. For the entire day after I watched the video, I couldn't help but look twice at every item that I picked up.
Besides the main part of the video, the DVD offers additional sex tips from Dr. Patti Britton, sexuality information, links to important sites and a bonus scene from one of the other Loving Sex programs.
What does it all add up to?
Each of the couples seemed to be actually enjoying themselves. There was banter between each other, none of the `do me now!' type of porno. It was very loving and yet very hot to watch - that is not to say that in real life these items don't go hand in hand, but in the world of porn it's almost nonexistent. Since I'm not an expert in determining when a woman has had an orgasm just by looking at her, I couldn't tell if they truly had, but they did look excited and into what they were doing, not just going through the motions. And when the guys climaxed it looked real. No money shots here!
I liked this video and I would recommend it to couples that are looking to expand their lovemaking beyond the boundaries of their bed. Even if you never have sex outside of the bedroom, the items you bring to your bed will help to enhance and heighten your sexual experience.
By the way, the pizza went uneaten.

Maid-Droid (2008) Review

People believed in magic to explain the things they could not understand, and magic offered the possibilities to change or control our lives . In fairy tales, protagonists undergo certain trials or tests to be found worthy of some wish, and a magical spell is spoken to make the wish come true.
Today...
Technology is our magic, and passwords are our magic spells. But people still must prove themselves worthy of the things we most wish for: love, good sex, companionship, and happiness.
A man, now old, has had a robot maid since he was a young man, and she has served him selflessly. Unfortunately, she is an early model; later models have sexual upgrade kits that allow their owners to act out their fantasies and have sex with their droids. The early model maid wishes she could be more like a real woman so she could please her young owner sexually. But he does not care if she can't, he loves her. Years later, she is an outdated model; replacement parts are difficult to find and her batteries no longer recharge. The man has kept her anyway, because of his love for her. She sits in a corner, lifeless, yet he is content to carry on conversations with her.
This movie is a clever updating of the Pinocchio fairy tale, replacing magic with technology; and if you look closely, all the plot elements are there:
In the original story, being a human boy was the wish and honesty the test. In Maid-Droid, true love is the wish and knowing the difference between sex and love is the test.
In the original Pinocchio, there was a dark side to being a human boy and he was in danger of being swallowed up by it. Likewise, in Maid-Droid there is a dark side to love and sex: when sex is mistaken for, or replaces, love. The police are looking for a droid that is seemingly preying on women. The built-in faithfulness of droids has been warped into unwanted sexual attacks by a chimerical droid assembly.
If that weren't enough to draw the parallels, one character has had his personality transferred to a mechanical puppet after his death, so that mentally he may continue to live.
Along the way there are some very good science fiction elements (including Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics in full frontal display) and some very witty and convincing observations on male and female relationships and sexuality.
Essentially, this is a Japanese Pink Film-style version of the Spielberg/Kubrick film AI, which was itself a version of Pinocchio. Some viewers will find that moments of (too) precious tenderness are offset, jarringly, with scenes of crass (and pretty funny) soft-core sex. But you'll see this helps to drive the point home that good sex is love's reward. Not the other way round.
I give this movie 4 stars because someone needs to make this movie again with more polished production values and more sophisticated screenwriting; and when they do it will be a great film. Others might give it 3.
I recommend this movie, its fun, titillating, sexy, sincere, and clever, even with its flaws.

Uptown Kittens Review

(More customer reviews)Peach and Red Dragon Releasing make excellent dvds and 'Uptown Kittens' is no exception. It's a very sexy dvd and I'm glad I picked it up. This is the most recent release from Peach that I've acquired, and right now, it's pretty cool. There are five models featured here this time: Jamie Lynn, Erin Avery, Heather Carolin, Lela Star and Kina Kai. I purchased this one specifically for Heather Carolin, who is a former 2002 Playboy Playmate and a red-head lover's dream come true. She's smokin' sexy to me and it's great to see her get the true, full erotic treatment she deserves here. Just under an hour runtime with basically a chic, uptown, luxury 'loft' living theme for ambiance. Good lighting, excellent camerawork and shots and the usual languid posing Peach connoisseurs have come to expect. Since only five models are featured here, four of the five appear in two vignettes (only Lela Star has just one scene), and the feature culminates with Jamie Lynn and Heather Carolin pairing up in the final vignette for a red-hot, ultra-sapphic, lesbian lickdown that's sure to send most red-blooded male viewers into meltdown! We never really get to see any real, actual depictions of cunnilingus and therefore it can't truly be categorized as XXX, but it comes close. A great Peach release with good replay value. Highly recommended.
Oh, and while I'm at it, two personal grievances I have with Peach's dvds in general I feel like I gotta address:
1) One common element present not just in 'Uptown Kittens' but almost all of the Peach dvd releases that annoys me to no end is the fact that in nearly all of the features, the models all strip fully naked but still insist upon wearing their high-heeled shoes. Why the hell do they so stubbornly insist upon constantly keeping their shoes on??!! Is it so their feet won't get cold???!!! Geez .... somebody help me out here! Is it too much to ask for them to shed their footwear, too??? The shoes are fine if you're making a video that has a high-heel fetish theme to it, but in EVERY release it kind of starts to get annoying.
2) And by the way (and this one is directed to Peach Studios and Red Dragon Releasing, specifically), on a personal note of constructive criticism, Peach definitely needs to, um, DIVERSIFY its pool of models. As any regular viewer of Peach videos has noticed, there's a conspicuous lack of women of color in the videos ------ specifically black women. Nearly all of Peach's mainstay models are almost exclusively white. Sure, there's a few Asian and Latina chicks here and there and even an occasional gal of mixed ethinicity, but I think I have yet to see an actual, real, 100% bonafide black model appear in a Peach release. Mostly the lineup is about as lilly white as it can be. As a man who appreciates the female form in ALL of its colors and shades, I think it's very important to have ALL of those colors represented in these otherwise great feature presentations. Let's celebrate sexiness in all its colorations. Note to Peach: I implore you to please come out with an exclusive, all-black model dvd release or at least start adding in black models along with the white ones in future releases, okay? Just sayin'.

Pirates Review

(More customer reviews)The idea of Pirates was grand. If you have ever seen any of the other big budget porn pireate films like Conquest, you know what you are getting into.
For a movie that seemed to be planned well, had a big budget, actually casted extras, had costumes that seemed to be made for the movie, great special effects, props, and sets, this movie failed for one reason.
No one took it seriously.
It was obvious that everyone in the film had fun being a part of this ground breaking movie. But for all its fancy packaging, special effects, and elaborate sets, the acting reduced it to a cheesy 70's porn flick. I was waiting for a pizza delivery guy to ring the doorbell and a half naked girl answer the door with a phrase like, "I hope that comes with sausage".
I know it is "just" porn, and no one is supposed to take it seriously, but others have succeeded where this film failed. Michael Ninn's Latex/Shock series is a good example, of how to assemble this kind of movie and still have it porn. Just because it is a movie with porn actors in it, doesn't mean they have to act like the usual porn actors. They could try to get into character a little to make the movie work better than it did.
All in all the sex scenes are decent, a little too much slapping the face I thought, but decent. It is worth owning, but if you are planning on buying it because it is supposed to be some great legend of a movie and you think it will be changing the face of porn forever.... Go buy yourself a copy of Debby Does Dallas. The acting is the same and both have sex scenes in them. If you are buying it for the special effects, costumes, and sets, then all the power to you.

I would name them sassy, wild (two of them), intense, demure & sultry. If this diversity was intended, I'm impressed; if not, we got lucky--it adds to the overall enjoyment.
For those who feel like the segments in other productions are too short, you'll be thrilled to find that this disc offers a very generous 15-20 minutes for each woman---& I'd be willing to bet that the slo-mo & pause buttons will get much more use than the fast-forward for the average viewer.
This one's a keeper for sure.

(More customer reviews)Ang Lee breaks through again with a masterful adaptation of Eileen Chang's short story, Lust/Caution (like what he did with Annie Prolux's similarly brief story, Brokeback Mountain). While the hype seems to be mostly misplaced on the controversial acrobatics displayed by Tony Leung and Tang Wei in bed, Lee's storytelling leaves one breathless.
The love story unfolds against the backdrop of 1930's Japanese-invaded Shanghai where tyranny and suffering were synonymous. Nubile Wang Jia Zhi played by Tang Wei joins the resistance movement and gets herself drawn into the role of a spy to crumble the traitor, Mr Yee. In between the espionage and wild climatic trysts, both of them unknowingly embroil themselves in love and deceit, much deeper than they would have liked themselves to.
Tang Wei, as a newcomer to cinema, is impeccable. Her evolution from a wide-eyed country girl to a seductive temptress is enough to make the hardest of most men, in this case, the distrusting Mr. Yee fall for her. Wei acts pretty much on instincts and her body language does wonders at seducing the somewhat vulnerable Mr. Yee played by multiple-award winner Tony Leung. Wei breaks down in the memorable scene where she's talking to the resistance leader on her unyieldingly sacrificial role that is both a torment and insidious attack to her emotions.
As usual, Tony has the penchant for playing dark brooding men and in this instance, an evil Chinese traitor. He does not act. His presence already commands attention as the cynical no-nonsense minister. The pivotal sex scenes, split into three parts, are not just there for visual enhancement. They actually convey the shift in roles between the two throughout their complex relationship. The raw emotions displayed on their faces were enough to convince anyone hard-hearted to think twice about the essence of love. I must say these are some of the best bed scenes you'll ever witness on film.
Of course, the supporting cast of Joan Chen as Mrs Yee and Wong Lee-Hom as Tang Wei's resistance compatriot, Kuang Yu Min, is every bit just as spectacular. In the end, the story about love is bittersweet. You'll also see how fervent the resistance movement, which puts the enemy above self and others, was through Wang Jia Zhi's eyes. Lust Caution is 157 minutes' of rewarding watch that will linger on in your minds well after the credits roll. (A+)

It's the simple story of an aging mass-market crime-fiction writer called Sarah Morton (Charlotte Rampling) who rambles off to the French countryside to find relaxation and hopefully inspiration for her next-in-the-series mystery book. While staying at her publisher's luxurious yet quaint summer retreat, she is confronted by his young daughter Julie (Ludivine Sagnier). Subsequently, all sorts of wild, unpredictable mischief ensues as the prim and proper Englishwoman clashes with the sexually carefree vixen, who evolves into an unexpected muse to the older woman.
My pal Oscar and I have spent the summer watching a number of French films, and one thing we both have learned and agree on is that for the most part, unlike most mainstream American films, they are mostly unpredictable. SWIMMING POOL is no different. Just when I thought I had it figured out, a number of odd plot twists move the narrative down an unsettling and unforgiving path until a sensitive and poignant ending reveals tragic truths about life, getting old, and the whimsy of youth that can be difficult for the young to face but which in many ways are empowering to those getting on in the years. If the film instructs anywhere, it is in the wisdom that we are only as old as we feel.
Expect tantalizingly erotic moments, mostly surrounding Ms. Sagnier's natural sensuality. There's plenty of eye-candy here, and in the viewing, one cannot help but feel strangely connected to the voyeuristic tendencies exhibited by Sarah as her dismal stoicism slowly disintegrates. Indeed, much of the film's tension and eroticism is experienced through the characters' eyes.
Ernest Hemingway said, "I like to listen. I have learned a great deal from listening carefully. Most people never listen." Surely the realm of the author is also to look, and more importantly, to see, as sharply illustrated by Sarah Morton's experience. In the end, her book may be the better for it -- to the possible chagrin of her publisher. Thus in some way, the film has much to say about the way literature is produced (through a "sexual" creative act) and how authors are oft times stripped of soul, reduced to rote formula, marketed, sold and neglected in pursuit of the next best selling author down the pike. In the film, Sarah attempts to transcend this trend through her collision with the young Julie (and in her fictional portrayal in the book she is writing).
Expect to be somewhat dismayed by the ending, but give it a moment, put the pieces together and it will all make sense. It's shear pleasure to enjoy a film these days that doesn't fill in the blanks for the audience, and this little gem is a clear winner. The fine acting betrays the taint of sentimentality. The sublime beauty and vivid verisimilitude of the setting and cinematography enhance the overall cinematic experience, and in more than one instance will leave the viewer breathless.
Some might complain that the film seems to meander, but this is true of many French films I've seen. This one is no different. Rather than commit to a rigid narrative form, the film appears more like a painting, with rich textures and colors folded onto the canvas in layers. Each scene builds on the last, every moment touches the next. The film is an experience as much as it is a story.

(More customer reviews)This is one of the most remarkable films I've seen in quite some time. In fact, it has lurched into the pantheon of my all-time favorite movies! It is a somewhat odd mixture of diverse ingredients, with elements of Office Space - Special Edition with Flair (Widescreen Edition) and High Fidelity and even some allusions to Gladiator (Widescreen Edition) thrown in just for fun. On top of that, much of it makes you feel like you're in the Twilight Zone, yet there's some downright slap-stick comedy that is stirred in for one amazing concoction of a story!
The DVD details the life of an artist (Sean Biggerstaff) who is having an awful time getting over his ex-girlfriend who just dumped him. He's having such a rough time, in fact, that he can't sleep. I mean, literally - he has the worst case of insomnia the world has ever seen. Finally, he gets a job working 3rd shift at a supermarket, just for something to do.
While there he meets up with a very pretty cashier (Emilia Fox) and some just plain crazy co-workers. He looks at even something as banal as working in a grocery store as being an "artistic" (if not metaphysical?) experience, and finds himself gravitating towards the lovely blonde cashier.
At the base, what this movie seems to be "all about" to me is a sort of meditation on feminine beauty, and the way that (straight) men perceive that beauty. Yes, this includes the female nude, but in an artistic way as opposed to being sleazy.The film is full of useful flashbacks that help us understand the evolution of an artist's perception of women. Many of these flashbacks,in fact, I could relate to in my own life.
Be warned that this is a very "different" sort of movie. Being an independent film, it goes well off of the beaten-track, and to me that's a good thing. While I'm sure there are plenty of people who will watch this and say "Boy, that was weird" I'm also confident that there are many who will say "Wow, I'd like to see more introspective flicks like that!" I belong to the latter group.

Secretary (2002) Review

(More customer reviews)The joy of SECRETARY lies in its characters, all of whom are quirky (to say the least). And if you leave the film thankful that you run with "normal" folks, then you probably just don't know the person in the adjacent work cube all that well.
As the film begins, Lee Holloway (Maggie Gyllenhaal) has just been released from institutional therapy. Lee has a level of self-esteem that's abysmal to the point of involving self-mutilation with sharp objects. (She even has her own first aid kit to disinfect and treat the wounds as soon as she makes them!) And whatever therapy she got didn't stick. But, life goes on, so she takes a typing class, and subsequently lands a job as a SECRETARY for the perfectionist lawyer "Mr. Grey" (James Spader).
Mutual assessment soon reveals potential for an S&M relationship where Grey is the "S" and Lee the "M". Courting, so to speak, and foreplay involve the boss making increasingly difficult demands of Lee's job performance with the mutual understanding that the latter will fail and punishment will follow. And what's a poor girl to do when making deliberate spelling errors in legal correspondence just doesn't push Grey's lust button anymore?
Spader's Grey persona is so deliciously creepy - not sinister, just creepy - that his paralegal does her work in such an unusual hiding place that she's rarely seen, even by the audience. And the delightful Gyllenhaal's portrayal of Holloway is so otherwise girl-next-door, except for her preoccupation with cutting edges, that I'm now surreptitiously scrutinizing our office secretaries for barely-hidden scars. And Jeremy Davies is terrific as Lee's nominal boyfriend, the painfully pathetic Peter.
While SECRETARY was in the theaters, it probably wasn't a film that you would've taken your prim and proper grandmother to see for her day trip away from the assisted care facility. It has some artistically done full-frontal nudity and a couple scenes of X-rated heavy breathing. SECRETARY is a stylish and darkly humorous treatment of a delicate subject that allows the viewer to snicker without the guilty feeling of having been discovered with a dirty magazine. (Of course, if Granny finds it knee-slapping funny, you might want to rethink your assumptions about her younger years.) My only complaint was that the ending is perhaps a little too drawn out and tidy. A snappier, more edgy conclusion would have made the film a perfect gem.
Now, where did I stash those red, felt tip markers? I have to proof an associate's work.

(More customer reviews)I will admit, One of the main reasons I wanted to see this movie was because of the buzz about it being one of the most sexually explicit movies ever made in the non-porn industry. I didn't really expect to find the movie interesting, I just wanted to see what everyone was talking about.
The first minute or so was nothing but explicit sex and I almost turned the movie off thinking it was going to be pointless, that this was all there was to the movie, but I had nothing better to do so I kept watching.
This movie is not porn, nor is it erotica. This movie IS an uncensored look at the truth about love and sex, and is probably one of the best movies I have ever seen. It is brutally honest, thought provoking, intense at times, and funny at others. These are characters that we can relate to, because they are real.
I can not say enough positive things about this movie, it is art, it is truth, it is exceptional.
It will definitely be a part of my DVD collection.
