Nightclub Dance Series: Hip Hop Moves For The Club, For Men Review

Nightclub Dance Series: Hip Hop Moves For The Club, For Men
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is my second hip-hop instructional video purchase, and the first that delivered what it promised. Rather than featuring stage dancers who tell you the most important thing is to feel the groove, it features club-going dancers who break down simple club moves (like grinding and side-stepping) into almost idiot-proof steps. They demonstrate these from multiple angles, speed them up, and then have ladies come out onto the dance floor to show what the interaction might be like when you are doing this move at the club. It would have been nice if some of the moves were even more idiot proof, but careful repeat viewings of instructions do the trick.
As a bonus, there are interview segments where "real girls" talk about what they are looking for in a guy at the club, along with do's and don'ts. The advice is generally good, and it is clear that these are women who spend a lot of time at clubs. I do feel that they could have found more attractive women to give this same advice.
The day I wanted to go out, I opened the video up, and watched and practiced a few moves, getting the basic feel for them. When I went to the club, I was stunned by how simply most people dance. Girls who I was afraid to dance with before were more approachable, because it was clear that they have pretty much no idea what they're doing! My rudimentary skills gotten from one hour of practice were enough to give me the confidence to go out there. I believe that whether or not that is true for you or your scene, this video has enough to make you comfortable provided you practice it.
Overall, if you're shy and avoiding the clubs because you feel like you can't dance, this video is exactly right for you.

The Hills: Season Five, Part Two Review

The Hills: Season Five, Part Two

I am a huge fan of The Hills. I've never hidden that fact even my boyfriend watches it with me and loves it. I have all the seasons and you could say I'm a little obsessed. I love Kristin Cav she's awesome and loves to start drama. But I have to say the second part was just OK. Don't get me wrong I loved all the fights and the drama and the bitchiness, but it just wasn't the same without Lauren there. Granted it did get a little boring on the first part with Lauren but I think it was because she was rarely on there. I think I was just so used to seeing Lauren on the show. It wasn't awful it could've been better. I'm excited to see what the 6th season has to bring what with Heidi's new face and all and the confrontation with her Mom. Keep up the good work MTV just make the 6th season better please!!!!

The Hills: Season Five, Part One Review

The Hills: Season Five, Part One

The Hills, Season Five Part One, continues on with the never-ending (but always entertaining!) drama that the show is famous for. While this season is the last for cast member LC (aka Lauren Conrad), whom the show is normally centered around, this season actually mostly focuses on Spencer and Heidi, while LC pretty much fades into the background for the majority of it. The season starts off with just as much drama as ever, when Stephanie Pratt brings Heidi to LC's birthday party uninvited, creating some tension. Spencer is less than thrilled that Heidi is hanging out with his sworn enemy, so he goes out to a bar for a "guys night", and ends up flirting with a bartender named stacey. When Heidi finds out about Spencer's flirting (At LC's party) she dramatically demands that she wants to get off the yacht that the party is being held on, and is surprisingly comforted by her old friend LC. The two girls have a teary talk, leaving Heidi hopeful for a renewal for their friendship at last, but LC is less than enthusiastic about that idea, and is angry at Stephanie for continually trying to force her and Heidi to reconcile. Throughout the rest of the season, Spencer and Heidi battle over Spencer's flirtation with stacey, and end up in couple's counseling, in order to try and save their relationship; LC gets Stephanie a job at People's Revolution, which she ends up regretting; Audrina tells Justin Bobby that she's done with him for good (right), and turns to Brody Jenner for comfort during a vacation in Hawaii, which causes problems when Brody's girlfriend Jayde Nicole finds out. The season ends with Spencer making a call to a very unexpected person to apologize, in order to get her to attend his wedding to Heidi. Heidi ends up getting her dream wedding to Spencer, and the wedding day is full of surprises (but not really) when two unexpected guests show up- One who shows up to rattle things up among the cast members, and one who shows up for a short time before disappearing into a limo as soon as the wedding is over.
If you like the other seasons of The Hills, definitely add this one to your collection!

Season 5 of The Hills kicks off as Lauren gets the ultimate surprise when Stephanie brings Heidi to her birthday party. Realizing that their friendship may never be what it once was as long as Spencer is still in the picture, will that keep Lauren and Heidi apart for good? Heidi thought Spencer was ready to grow up when he called off their quickie marriage to give her a dream wedding. But when a guys’ night out ends with Spencer hitting on a beautiful bartender and beating up his sister’s ex-boyfriend, Heidi must ask herself once and for all – is Spencer the guy that makes her happy, or simply the cause of all her problems?

Laguna Beach - The Complete First Season (2004) Review

Laguna Beach - The Complete First Season (2004)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This show is pretty much the definition of a guilty pleasure, and I'm guilty all right: half of the people I know mock me for watching this show and the other half have no idea I watch because I would die of shame if they found out. My sister constantly questions why I watch LB and I have fine-honed my reasons:
-- I went to an overly academically geared high school, so never had the chance to gossip about the in-crowd hijinks of "hooking up" and drunken antics. I missed out on my prime gossip years!
-- It's a chance to see how the other (wealthier) half live... and mock them.
-- Anthropologists have determined that 60% of human communication involves talking about other people; watching "Laguna Beach" proves how human I am.
-- It's a chance to sit back and watch attractive, overly wealthy and pampered teenagers make each other miserable by gossiping, back-stabbing and stealing each other's boyfriends and objects of affection. It's like the real-life version of "Mean Girls" only without Tina Fey writing their lines for them. Less wit, better clothes!
The show is lots of fun if you've got the twisted sensibility to enjoy it. And the second season is much, much better than the first season, with more cat fights, break-ups, tears and "hook-ups" than ever.
My only caveat: watching this on DVD is really the best way to watch, just downing episode after episode right after each other, but I don't know about the necessity of owning them -- who would want to re-watch these episode over and over again? I'm pretty much of the opinion that no reality show is a must-have on DVD, so definitely Netflix/rent over buying.

Jamie King- Rock Your Body Review

Jamie King- Rock Your Body
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this DVD after reading that it was Shape magazine's DVD of the month, and I just finished my second time doing it. Overall, it's a great workout that is a lot of fun!
Jamie King leads the workout, and he is accompanied by four back-up dancers. Jaime has a lot of energy, and makes the workout fly by, which is always nice. The workout is broken down into six main sections: a warm-up, rehearsal 1, rehearsal 2, dress rehearsal (where you put the two sections together slowly), the performance (where you put the two sections together more quickly in front of an "audience"), and a cool down.
In each of the two rehearsal sections, Jamie breaks down the choreography and makes it very esay to follow. If you can't get a move, though, a great feature of the DVD is that in several places you can click on a sub-menu and go to the bonus section where Jamie breaks down the move even more slowly.
One of the things that makes this workout so unique is that the workout is done on a stage with a DJ playing music. During the dress rehearsal and performance sections, the dancers and Jamie also change into "costumes" and even do the routine in front of a live audience. It really feels like you're a rock star while doing these sections of the workout!
The DVD also has a bonus strength section and a section where Jamie breaks down the moves in more detail. The first time I did this workout, I couldn't quite keep up with the nuances of the moves, but I can see progress and I can also see that I won't be bored with this DVD in the future.
The last thing I wanted to say is that I was pleasantly surprised about how this workout got my heart rate up. It's true that there are much harder cardio dance workouts out there, but I was definitely breaking a sweat -- and having fun while doing it! Overall, it's a fun, very unique workout!

my wife made me watch the kardashians when it first came out and I admit I liked it right away and we have been watching ever since. naturally we could'nt wait for it to come out on dvd. I could'nt be more disappointed with the dvd because its shown exactly as shown on E. I was looking foward to hearing the exact language and other things they can't show on tv. If I wanted to see it this way, all I have to do is watch the reruns which E shows all the time. I feel like I wasted my money on it!

Kourtney & Khloe Take Miami Season One DVD features all 8 episodes of the first season. Every episode is on the first disc along with the special features. It includes deleted scenes and bonus interviews. Also, it includes the extended version of the first episode that only aired once. The second disc features Keeping Up With The Kardashians: The Wedding special along with deleted scenes from the episode. Promos for Keeping Up With The Kardashians seasons 1 and 2 are on the DVD before the menu. The DVD also includes an ad inside for the second season along with an episode list with summaries of each episode. The only bad things about this release is that it is censored and the theme song is changed. It features just instrumental music instead of "I'm In Miami Trick". Overall, it is a good DVD release, but could be improved.
