My sister recomended these DVDs to me a few months ago. She has four kids currently-all in the space of just under six years. When I saw her last, she had lost SIXTY pounds just doing these DVDs a couple of times a week. I just had my second child, and after a dibilitating car accident, well needless to say, I need to loose a lot of weight. So I decided to try these DVDs. I have had them a little over a week and have done both the one mile and the two mile-infact I just finished the two mile a few minutes ago. They are great! They are very low impact-I have bad knees from the car accident, and a plate in my left arm, also from the accident, and I can do the two mile without any pain in my knees, and I can do push ups which I haven't done in almost four years! They are fun and easy, and I can tell already that I am loosing weight. It only takes a half hour to do the two mile, which I can still do with two kids. I also like this because I am so much overweight, I can do this in the comfort of my own living room, without the uncomfortable stares of other people at the gym or the track. Also, you can move around up and back, side to side, but you don't have to. It is very flexable. Currently I am living in a hotel room in MS while my husband is in Air Force training, and I can do it easily in my 12x9 hotel room. I highly recomend this to anyone who will listen ... So buy and enjoy!

Walk Away the Pounds 2-Pack: Super Fat Burning + Get Up and Get Started High Calorie Burn Review

These workouts are awesome! You can't go wrong with them. They are easy to follow; no sudden moves, and you don't have to be super coordinated to do them. I never liked to do aerobics because I couldn't keep up, and I couldn't follow along. These workouts are simple but VERY effective!! There are four simple steps to each of the three workouts you get; kicks (not Taebo-type), side steps, knee lifts and kick backs. You don't need a huge living room, you are just marching in place with a little bit of traveling forward and back but if you don't have the room, you can continue to march in place. There are three different workouts; 1 mile, 2 miles, and 3 miles. She incorporates upper body work as well with her 2 pound balls. I use 5 pound dumbbells and it's challenging but not enough to make me quit midway. I always break a sweat about 10 minutes into any of the workouts. You don't have to use weights at all, though. There are a group of people who work out with Leslie and usually one of them is modifying for you. (they aren't all super skinny either, which is nice to see). Leslie is very explanatory while working out and you aren't caught off guard with sudden moves. She talks a bit much and her laugh gets annoying; she is very high energy. The people she works out with talk a lot too but it's ok; I'd rather see them be real than to see a bunch of robots working out. The faces they make when they don't realize they are on camera are hilarious!
With regard to her talking about "God" during her workouts is not offensive. She doesn't say the word "God". She says the word Heaven maybe twice, and she says to "count your blessings." Which I don't find offensive. She doesn't go on and on about religion.
You can do the 2 mile walk in 30 minutes and the 3 mile walk in 49 minutes, I believe. I started with the two miles and did that for a few days before moving on to the 3 mile. Now I alternate according to the amount of time I have. YOu can make the 2 mile just as intense as the 3 mile walk if you add more weights or squat when you are doing the side steps.
It has been highly effective for me. I started dieting on the first of October, doing just ab workouts. I did that until the 19th of October when I incorporated cardio, some light weight training and also some bun/thigh work. I have lost 13 pounds total and 2 pants sizes; going from a 14 to a size 10 in less than a month and a half! I have seen quicker results doing these workouts than I did walking around the block, which gets rather boring after awhile. I love that I can workout anytime I want and I don't have any excuses not to. Rain or shine, I can workout! I highly recommend these workouts! I am more motivated, more energized and happier than I have ever been with ANY other workout!

Leslie Sansone - Walk Away the Pounds (Get Up and Get Started 1 Mile / High Calorie Burn 2 Miles) (1991) Review

Leslie Sansone won herself a whole new audience with the Walk Away the Pounds DVDs. These workouts are a wonderful way to get fit for people of all ages and fitness levels. This DVD features the 1-mile walk and the 2-mile walk. This DVD is the perfect introduction to Leslie's walking workouts.
The moves are very simple:
- knee lifts
- kick backs
- side steps
- kicks
- and of course, walking
The 1-mile walk runs 20 minutes. The 2-mile walk runs 31 minutes. If you're just getting started, these workouts will fit into anyone's schedule!
Once you've mastered the basic steps, she helps to create more intensity by stepping out further, squatting into the moves, and using light weights. While she promotes the "Walk Away Weights" in the DVD, light hand weights (2 - 3 pounds) can be substituted, just be sure to watch your form.
A helpful meter appears along the way, to show you just far you've walked. Leslie's warm demeanor and encouragement really keep you motivated to make it to that 1 mile or 2 mile marker. The other outstanding motivator in these workouts is her walking group: real people! Deb is in her 50's, Randy is an older man, a new mother, and women in their 20's and 30's round out the walkers.
The workout can be customized to fit your lifestyle, and that is one of it's greatest features. When you're looking to work harder, squat down, push yourself, and use the weights. On days that you're just not feeling 100%, skip the weights and still get a great cardio workout.
If you enjoy working out at home, this is a must-have workout. Thank you Leslie!

Leslie Sansone: Walk Weight Loss Bootcamp Kit Review

Leslie Sansone: Walk Weight Loss Bootcamp Kit

I've been walking with Leslie for a few years; she helped me lose 36 pounds. So I'm very familiar with the music, moves, etc, from her workouts. This latest, however, offers something completely new: her first boot camp style walk. It comes with two "figure eight" bands; the yellow is lighter resistance, and the orange is heavier resistance, so you can work your way up.
This is a 3 mile walk which, with warm up and cool down/ stretch, comes in at around 45 minutes. It's just you and Leslie, no other walkers. The music is updated in this one and it's pretty good. In mile 1, it's all walking with the four basic Leslie moves: sidesteps, knee lifts, kicks and kickbacks. Some new moves are included here: a sidestep with heel crossed in front, sidestep with toe crossed in back, and a sort of box step that incorporates a knee lift. I could definitely feel those moves hitting the harder to reach areas of my legs.
Miles 2 and 3 consist of 5 intervals: 2 minutes of brisk walking, 1 minute of "boosted walking" (jogging) and two minutes of strength training with the Figure 8. The strength training uses basic moves such as bicep curls, tricep kickbacks, chest presses, lunges, and an upper back exercise. The intervals REALLY pumped up the walk. Using the "boot camp" interval style is supposed to keep your metabolism revved and burn more calories; I could feel every muscle in my body got worked with this one. As an added bonus, it goes by fast. This would be a great introduction to Leslie; or, if you've been walking with her a long time, a great way to shake things up. This is one I'll be doing often.

Leslie Sansone: Walk at Home - 5 Mile Fat Burning Walk Review

Leslie Sansone: Walk at Home - 5 Mile Fat Burning Walk
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been a Leslie Sansone fan for many years and own lots of her videos; the 5 Mile Fat Burning Walk, by far, my favorite! I would definitely say that this video (if you do the entire thing) is geared to intermediate/advanced exercisers. If you are a beginner, consider just doing a mile or two and working up towards the whole workout.
I loved the fact that the video breaks each mile down individually. The first and fifth mile have only Leslie leading. The second, third, and fourth mile include several other walkers and different music for each mile. I LOVE the music on this video more than any of the other videos. The miles are completed MUCH faster than Leslie's other videos. I also believe this 5 mile workout goes by very quickly!
EACH mile is 12-13 minutes and is roughly broken down as follows:
-Approx. 5 min of moderate walking
-Approx. 5 min of brisk/"power walking"
-2 min of "boosted walking"
The boosted walking is actually gentle jogging and "boosted" forms of kicks and knee lifts. Walkers have the option of joining Leslie with the boosted walking or just power walking. She insists that even if you are unable to do the higher impact version, lower impact is just fine.
There really is no warm-up (even in the first segment), but there is a cool down at the end of the video that lasts 6 minutes. If you do the entire video, the workout will last 68 minutes.
I would recommend this video especially to Leslie Sansone Veteran Walkers, but beginners can easily grow and advance as their fitness improves.

Biggest Loser: Power Walk Review

Biggest Loser: Power Walk
Average Reviews:

There are 4 16-minute walks on this DVD, and a short, standard cooldown session. The DVD comes with a tracking card where you can record your workouts and how many miles you have walked so far.
Walk 1: Bob - The standard basic steps, no sweating. Feels like an easy aerobics session.
Walk 2: Sione - Walk with weights, some upper body workout involved.
Walk 3: Bob - Higher cardio workout with jumping jacks and skater movements.
Walk 4: Tara - Light upper body workout with a medicine ball.
Cooldown: Tara and Sione - Leg and arm stretching.
I tried all 4 walks and the cooldown on my first try, overall I found it quite enjoyable, with low impact for the knees. This is really a beginner DVD, but it is easy to bring it to an intermediate level by adding jumps and crouches with the steps, moving your arms around at the same time, and using heavier weights or even weights you can attach to your legs or wrists. My favourite sessions were Walk 2 and 3, because of the upper body workout, and the high cardio with Bob.
If you do not own a medicine ball you can use a heavier weight instead which you can hold with both hands. If you do not own weights, you can still go through the workouts, as they show how to do the moves without them, but I recommend having a pair to have a much better, useful workout.
I wear a BodyMedia FIT (aka the BodyBugg) and it recorded a total of ~6,500 steps for all 4 walks, and a calorie spend of ~425 calories (if you do the "intermediate" level moves).
Note: This DVD also comes with a few rebates and special offers inside, such as a code to download for free the Biggest Loser Workout Mix Top 40 Hits Vol. 1 (a 1h mp3 compilation to drive you through any workout), a rebate for the Biggest Loser Meal Plan and Know Your Number Health Score subscriptions.

Jane Fonda: Prime Time - Walkout Review

Jane Fonda: Prime Time - Walkout

Let me start by saying I am a big fan of Jane and love her earlier workouts. I am a little disappointed in this new one: Jane doesn't always keep time to the music, the music itself is very bland and Jane does not cue well. What I do like about this workout is that there is a nice variety of steps, a good stretch at the end of the workout and Jane incorporates a lot of arm movements during the walk. If you are a fan of Leslie Sansone's workouts, you might find the pace of this one a little slow (even the second walk on the DVD which is supposed to be a little faster isn't very fast). Not all workouts are for everybody, though. If you are a beginner or a senior looking for a more gentle workout, this may work just fine for you. And I have to add that Jane looks terrific!
