Codename Kids Next Door - Sooper Hugest Missions File One (2002) Review

Codename Kids Next Door - Sooper Hugest Missions File One (2002)
Average Reviews:

I'm 28 and I love this cartoon. It's corny and at times it's pretty stupid but the pure ridiculousness of it is what makes it so entertaining. I love the concept of 2x4 technology and having guns that shoot condiments, ice cream, gum balls etc... is classic! Not to mention the robots and other vehicles that are made of everyday things like carousels, cars, school lockers, and even a chimney! Codname KND puts a great spin on the action cartoons of the twenty first century. No blood, no guts - just plain fun and gags that can be appreciated by children of all ages. Also, the constant spoofs on classic movies; Robin Hood, Star Wars, Terminator, etc... is entertaining to adults who watch with their children (or by themselves!) I'm a lifelong lover of cartoons and although I really didn't like Codename KND the first few times I watched it I eventually came to love it and now watch it every chance I get. I've also converted a few of my adult cartoon loving friends into fans.
As for the animation style - it's true that the characters are drawn pretty amusingly. They look like pencils with apples stuck on them for heads, hands and feet but instead of complaining about the style take it for what it is. The entire cartoon is a spoof and the way it's drawn emphasizes that.
A comment on the accents of the characters; While reading through other reviews I noticed many complaints on how fake the British accent of Numbah One sounds. As stated in the previous paragraph - this is a spoof and how much more ridiculous would Numbah One sound if he had been voiced by someone with a real British accent? Could you seriously imagine Hugh Laurie reading the part? I believe that a real British accent would get even more complaints and besides, if you actually watched the cartoon you'd realize that neither of Numbah One's parents have an accent which would clue you in - he's just a kid trying to be cool as so many kids do. I've never heard a convincing accent come out of a child's mouth without extensive training. And to bash on Numbah Four's accent, calling it a bad British accent, is further proof that you don't watch the show. Numbah Four is Australian.
The characters all have distinct personalities and their individuality is part of what makes them so fun. Watching this cartoon takes me back to my own childhood, back when cartoons were only on Saturday morning and for an hour or two after school. Back before Nintendo and Xbox... When our imagination was all we had and we used it to the point of frying our brains. Today's youth can't always appreciate a cartoon like Codename KND because they can't necessarily relate. If you don't like it that's okay and feel free to trash it all you want, that's your right and I recognize your right. We all have different opinions and I love that amazon gives us the ability to share our opinions. Don't use these review spaces to put down the other reviewers though - that is immature and unnecessary. Who cares if someone misspells a word? I'm sure that I've misspelled quite a few words in my own review! Also, if someone writes a review that you don't agree with don't trash the person, just write your own review and leave it alone. Allow the consumer to make the choice don't try to sway them to your way of thinking. The purpose of these reviews is to share your opinion of the item in question with the intent of informing people of what it is they're considering purchasing.
I love Codename KND and I reccomend this cartoon to cartoon lovers everywhere!

The Archie Show: The Complete Series (1968) Review

The Archie Show: The Complete Series (1968)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
One of the best animated children's shows to ever come out of the 60's. This series, which featured a lot of chase songs, which also showed up in the Scooby-Doo TV series, are what made the series a lot more fun and enjoyable and very comical to watch. The following episodes consist of the first show:
1 The Added Distraction
2 Who Is Afraid of Reggie Wolf?
3 Beauty is Only Fur Deep
4 The Disappearing Act
5 Hot Rod Drag
6 Jughead's Double
7 Anchor's Away
8 Snow Business
9 Jughead Simpson Jones
10 The Computer
11 Groovy Ghosts
12 PFC Hot Dog
13 Dilton's Folly
14 Jughead's Girl
15 Hard Day's Knight
16 Cat Next Door
17 Chimp off the Old Block
18 Reggie's Cousin
19 The Circus
20 The Prize Winner
21 Field Trip
22 The Great Marathon
23 Flying Saucers
24 Way Out Like West
25 Kid's Day
26 Par One
27 Rocket Rock
28 The Old Sea Dog
29 Private Eye Jughead
30 Strike Three
31 The Jones' Farm
32 Veronica's Veil
The series, as reported by TV Shows on DVD, goes on sale in July, before the SanDiego Comic Convention begins and if you're a parent who is careful what your children watch, this is wholesome cartoony entertainment that even parents can get into. The series is set to be released on July 31st and if there's only one DVD boxed set on your list for this year and you are looking for something great to give your family, please make this DVD set one of your favourites ... it certainly is one of mine and it also features great songs recorded by the fictional rock group "The Archies" who actually recorded several albums during the course of the animated series (eight different Archies animated series which ran from 1968-1977).

Walt Disney Treasures - On the Front Lines (1943) Review

Walt Disney Treasures - On the Front Lines (1943)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The years that the probable contents were released, as well as some info on the various works.
FILMS
1943
VICTORY THROUGH AIR POWER - This film was basically propaganda with some entertainment and some powerful animation. Mainly championed Major Seversky's 1942 book of the same title with the theory that long-range air power could defeat the WWII enemies. The scene of an American eagle attacking the Japanese octopus is very powerful, moving animation.
ENTERTAINMENT/PROPAGANDA SHORTS
1942
DONALD GETS DRAFTED-always enjoyed the idea of Donald reporting to the draft board in his sailor suit.
THE ARMY MASCOT-Pluto schemes to take over the job of a mascot goat, with hilarious results.
THE VANISHING PRIVATE-Donald goes crazy with invisible paint, leading to war with his sergeant Pete, with a perfect, funny ending.
SKY TROOPER-Donald wants to be a pilot, and his sergeant Pete gives him more than Donald bargained for.
1943
DER FUEHRER'S FACE-the famous and infamous cartoon in which Donald dreams he is in Naziland where he is forced to work in a munitions plant.
EDUCATION FOR DEATH-very strong propaganda about Germany's totalitarian state which turns an innocent young boy into a robotic soldier.
PRIVATE PLUTO-Pluto has a war with the chipmunks in guarding the area.
FALL OUT - FALL IN-Donald experiences some of the trials of Army life, such as super-long hikes.
REASON AND EMOTION-entertainment and propaganda used in a story about reason and emotion working together for the war effort, enjoyable animation.
VICTORY VEHICLES-Goofy shows off alternate transportation due to the wartime rubber and gasoline shortage, settling on the pogo stick.
THE OLD ARMY GAME-Sergeant Pete catches Donald sneaking back into base after a late night on the town, leads to a merry chase.
HOME DEFENSE-Donald's nephews conflict with Donald after he sleeps during his duty of watching for enemy attack.
CHICKEN LITTLE-The classic "the sky is falling" story, originally planned to have more wartime references.
1944
HOW TO BE A SAILOR-Goofy's story of the history of sailors, ending with him using himself as a torpedo to sink Japanese ships.
COMMANDO DUCK-Donald is sent on a suicide mission to wipe out an entire Japanese air base, with hilarious results.
EDUCATIONAL SHORTS
* = Created for Canada to sell their war bonds.
** = CIAA films (Coordinator of Inter-American Affairs) created to combat the German Nazy influence that was widespread in Latin American in the early 1940s.
1941
THE THRIFTY PIG * - animation from Three Little Pigs cartoon adapted, with the Big Bad Wolf wearing a Nazi hat and armband.
THE SEVEN WISE DWARFS * - animation from Snow White adapted to show dwarfs buying war bonds.
1942
DONALD'S DECISION * - uses animation from 1938 Donald Duck cartoons "Donald's Better Self" and "Self Control" to convince Donald to buy war bonds.
ALL TOGETHER * - uses animation from several sources, including The Band Concert (1935) and Mickey's Amateurs (1937) to show several Disney characters in a parade to sell war bonds.
THE NEW SPIRIT - Donald is encouraged to pay his income tax to help the war effort.
FOOD WILL WIN THE WAR - Stresses the importance of farmers to the war effort. Includes the Three Little Pigs leading a long line of pigs.
OUT OF THE FRYING PAN INTO THE FIRING LINE - Minnie & Pluto star in an effort to show how important it was for housewives to save kitchen fats and greases for the war effort.
1943
THE GRAIN THAT BUILT A HEMISPHERE ** - Tells the history of corn and its importance to the world.
THE SPIRIT OF '43 - Donald Duck resists Nazi propaganda and pays his taxes to support the war effort.
WHE WINGED SCOURGE ** - The Seven Dwarfs point out ways to defeat the malaria-carrying mosquito.
DEFENSE AGAINST INVASION ** - Shows the human body's ability to fight off germs through vaccination.
1945
CLEANLINESS BRINGS HEALTH ** - The difference between the Clean Family that is happy and healthy and the Careless Family that is unhappy and unhealthy.
WHAT IS DISEASE ** - Shows what causes disease and how to protect against disease.
1946
PLANNING FOR GOOD EATING ** - Careless Charlie is used to teach a family about good dietary habits.
TRAINING FILMS
1942
FOUR METHODS OF FLUSH RIVETING - basic animation for education purposes
STOP THAT TANK (BOYS ANTI-TANK RIFLE) - a great deal of live action but fun, enjoyable animation of Hitler being blown to Hell by the rifle
1942-1945?
TRAINING FILM MONTAGE - A selection of scenes from various training films, I assume.
There are a few war-related entertainment shorts not listed here - one or more might be added to this collection instead of what is listed above.
1943
DONALD'S TIRE TROUBLE - most likely short. Donald has continual trouble with flat tires due to the wartime shortage of rubber.
PLUTO AND THE ARMADILLO - small connection to the wartime. Short releated to the Latin Armerica trip and the Saludos Amigos and The Three Caballeros films developed from that trip.
1944
THE PELICAN AND THE SNIPE - same info as for Pluto and the Armadillo.
1945
DOG WATCH - Pluto is a watchdog for a Navy ship.
The war years were a demanding time for the Disney Company. Most of their meager resources were devoted to the war effort. But this era contained a great deal of creative effort that might not have existed if not for the war.
I have seen most of these war works, and I consider them fascinating and among the best of all of Disney's work. I much look forward to owning them on DVD.

On December 8, 1941, the Disney Studio was taken over by the military as part of the war effort. Making the most of the talent that hadn't shipped out yet, Walt Disney spent the next four years creating and producing training, propaganda, and educational films for the Armed Forces. In addition to these films, this extraordinary volume also includes the full-length feature "Victory Through Air Power." Released theatrically in 1943, this powerful propaganda film has never been reissued until now. You'll also see recently discovered on-the-set footage, and get rare firsthand accounts about the work and culture at the Disney Studio in interviews with Disney Legends Joe Grant, John Hench, and Roy Disney. Saturday Morning Cartoons: 1980s, Vol. 1 Review

Saturday Morning Cartoons: 1980s, Vol. 1
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm a huge cartoon nerd who in particular loves the Saturday morning and syndicated stuff from the 80s and it's unfortunate that I think I'm both the exact target audience for a release like this as well as one of of the fans completely let down by this style of release.
Real quick, the WB presents SMC 1980s 2-disc set is a compilation of single episodes from eleven different 80s cartoons including:
Thundarr the Barbarian
Mr. T
Dragon's Lair
The Flintstone Kids
Galtar and the Golden Lance
The Biskitts
The Completely Mental Misadventures of Ed Grimley
The Monchichis
Chuck Norris: Karate Kommandos
Tex Avery's the Kwicky Koloa Show
Goldie Gold & Action Jack
There's also a short 18 minute special feature called Lords of Light that reminisces on the production of Thundarr the Barbarian with a handful of talking head intervews (including some great insights from writers, as well as the creator/producers of the series Joe Ruby and Ken Spears.)
First off, for the casual fan there's a lot to like about a compilation set like this. If you're only curious about getting a taste of the various shows that aired during Saturday Morning throughout the 80s, then a set like this is great. There's a nice range of mystery solving, action, and comedy with enough recognizable highlights (the Flintstone Kids, Mr. T, and Thundarr) to offset the more obscure series (Goldie Gold & Action Jack, Chuck Norris: Karate Kommandos, and the Monchichis.) Unfortunately, even for the casual fan the set has little to no re-play value, and so it would fall into the realm of the impulse buy or one-time Netflix rental.
For the more hardcore fans the set is a disaster. On the one hand we're getting 11 shows that have never seen release on DVD before, a handful of which fans have been clamoring for, for years. Also, fans are getting an opportunity to catch episodes of series they may never have gotten a chance to see back in the day (like Galtar or the Biskitts) and it's quite possible that one episode is all they need. But on the other hand, for fans of shows like the Mr. T cartoon and Thundarr the Barbarian, this set is just a slap in the face from Warner Brothers. I'd hazard a guess to say that most hardcore fans, the people that are essentially the audience for the cartoons released on this set, don't want to settle for single episodes of their favorite shows.
The idea behind these compilations as I understand it, is for Warner Brothers to find a happy medium between spending a lot of money producing complete series and season sets of cartoons that don't sell well and the more cost effective single-disc releases for series that fans tend to hate. To be fair Warner is looking at producing sets that meet in the middle, giving fans the variety they desire with something more substantial than a 4-episode single-disc release for only one show. It seems logical, but all this set really is, is a glorified single disc release.
What Warner is really doing is cutting their target audience in half with these compilations. The people who would gladly buy full season or complete series sets for shows like Thundarr and Mr. T will most likely ignore these sets, leaving only the fans that want everything from the 80s and the fickle casual fans that are probably not all that interested in paying $20 for a set like this.
That's not to mention the people who don't realize that sets like this are limited to what WB has available in their vaults. So my guess is that a lot of casual fans think the included shows are a little too obscure and would rather have a set that features more episode from series that they remember more fondly, like Dungeons and Dragons in place of Dragonslayer, the Snorks in place of the Monchichis, or the Shirt Tales in place of the Biskitts.
At the end of the day I'm glad to have some of these episodes on DVD and I appreciate the bind Warner Brothers is in considering that past releases of complete series sets haven't sold well enough to continue on this trend. But I also feel kind of gipped on a $20 release that I'll most likely watch once while I sit pining for more episodes of Thundarr the Barbarian. Honestly, these sets would be more much attractive at a $12 MSRP...

Saturday Morning Cartoons: 1970s Vol. 1 (2009)
Average Reviews:

I give this five stars, as I believe this is the best way to see some of these 1970's shows. Most of these have not yet been released on DVD, and to be honest: one episode is enought in some cases.
Those that have been previously released on DVD are worth the entire sets.
1962's THE JETSONS feels out of place here, but it was still in network re-runs on Saturday Mornings. However I wish another 1970's show would have bene included. As this is "volume 1" I am sure the missing shows will see their way to DVD.
These were all produced by Hanna-Barbera.
Disc #1
THE JETSONS - The Space Car (also on season 1 DVD set)
THE BATMAN TARZAN ADVENTURE HOUR
HONG KONG PHOONEY (also on complete series DVD set)
GOOBER AND THE GHOST CHASERS
SPEED BUGGY
WHEELIE AND THE CHOPPER BUNCH
Disc #2
YOGI'S GANG
AMAZING CHAN AND THE CHAN CLAN
ROMAN HOLIDAYS
JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS (also on season 1 DVD set)
THE NEW SCOOBY DOO MOVIES (also on a Best-Of DVD set)
FUNKY PHANTOM
Bonus Documentaries on THE FUNKY PHANTOM, JOSIE AND THE PUSSYCATS and THE CHAN CLAN.

Interesting characters, intriguing plot, fun art style.
A great gift for anybody from a kid to a college student!
Why Cartoon Network is wasting airtime on shoddy live-action shows when great animation like this can be had from Canada (oh bless you, Great White North!) baffles me.

Tom and Jerry: The Chuck Jones Collection (2009)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
All 34 of the Chuck Jones Tom and Jerry Shorts are included along with two new documentaries. This really doesn't represent the peak of Tom and Jerry cartoons. This is not the era in which the cartoons were winning Academy Awards. Those cartoons are included in Tom and Jerry: Spotlight Collection, Vol. 1-3. Do be aware that there was considerable controversy over these Spotlight Collections in which cartoons were edited in the first two volumes and two cartoons were not even released in the third. The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, Vol. 1 (2009) Review

The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, Vol. 1 (2009)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Out of several cartoon shows that appear on Cartoon Network, The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack stands out. It is very unique and entertaining, just like Chowder.
The main characters of the show is a young adventure seeking and candy loving boy named Flapjack, and his maple syrup drinking pirate buddy Captain K'nuckles. Also we have the always protective and loving whale, Bubbie, who raised Flapjack since he was an infant.
The series follows the trio as they partake on adventures on Stormalong Harbor and beyond. Always seeking a way to get to Candied Island, or at least getting some free candy from Peppermint Larry.
The show has a great deal of entertainment value, but some may disagree with me. But all of us are entitled to our own opinion. Personally, I really like the show and its unique characters. The animation is different, plus like Chowder, it utilizes stop-motion animation!
Below is a list of episodes and special features that are included on The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack, Volume One.
1. Several Leagues Under The Sea/Cammie Island
2. Several Leagues Above The Sea/That's A Wrap
3. Lookin' For Love In All The Wrong Barrels/Beard Buddies
4. Skooled/Snarked
5. Capatain and ToeNeil (never seen it before, possibly wrong one listed or it may be a brand new never before seen episode)
Special Features
- Adventures in Voice Acting Featurette
- Adventures in Animation Featurette
- Misadventures in Song Featurette
- Meet Thurop! Featurette
My advice, if your a fan of the series or if you actually like it, buy it. It's a good series with some interesting characters and unique animation. Pre-order your copy and enjoy!

Classic Cartoon Favorites, Vol. 4 - Starring Chip 'n Dale Review

Classic Cartoon Favorites, Vol. 4 - Starring Chip 'n Dale
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This would have been a five star release if not for:
1) it is too short and
2) It has only two of their three solo cartoons. "LONE CHIPMUNKS" is missing and SHOULD have been included. It is unlikely that Chip & Dale will get their own Disney Treasures DVD release with only three cartoons.
Unlike most of the Cartoon Favorites series DVDs, this installment mostly features cartoons not yet available on the Disney Treasures series. The descriptions are already included above, so I will give the duplication run down here:
CHIP AND DALE (1947)- NEW TO DVD but expected to be on the Disney Treasures: Chronological Donald volume 3 to be released this Dec. 11 2007.
TREE FOR BREAKFAST (1948) - NEW TO DVD but expected to be on the Disney Treasures: Chronological Donald volume 3 to be released this Dec. 11 2007.
OUT ON A LIMB (1950) - NEW TO DVD but expected to be on the Disney Treasures: Chronological Donald volume 3 to be released this Dec. 11 2007.
FOOD FOR FEUDIN' (1950) - Only cartoon already released on "Disney Treasures: Complete Pluto volume 2".
OUT OF SCALE (1951) - NEW TO DVD, not yet announced for any Donald Duck release.
CHICKEN IN THE ROUGH (1951) - NEW TO DVD - solo Chip & Dale cartoon.
TWO CHIPS AND A MISS (1952) - NEW TO DVD - solo Chip & Dale cartoon.
WORKING FOR PEANUTS (1953) - NEW TO DVD, not yet announced for any Donald Duck release.
DRAGON AROUND (1954) - NEW TO DVD, not yet announced for any Donald Duck release.
Bottom line: This is a MUST GET DVD!

An hour-long collection of Disney cartoons. Chicken in the Rough, 1951, In a farmyard a hen is sitting on a nest of eggs when Chip an' Dale, who are picking acorns, come upon the eggs. A chase follows and chipmunks end up in the miniature village where they duck into a tiny house. Gags follow with Donald simulating extremes of weather. Chips decide to get their tree back. Tree is kicked onto tracks and train drives a hold through the tree. Chips put "Giant Redwood" sign on tree and convince Donald it is in scale. Two Chips and a Miss, 1952, Chipmunks attend a nightclub and vie with one another for attention of a nightclub singer who divides her attention between the two.Food for Feudin', 1950, Chipmunks fill a tree with nuts. Pluto causes the nuts to roll down into his doghouse. They try to retrieve nuts. Eventually lure Pluto up hill with nuts.Working for Peanuts, 1953, Chip and Dale steal peanuts from Dolores, the elephant. Donald, using Dolore's trunk as a vacuum cleaner, pulls the peanuts away from the thieves, and then in machine-gun fashion, he shoots the nuts back at the chipmunks. He misses the chipmunks, they laugh, he chases them and knocks himself out by hitting a wall. Chipmunks cover themselves with whitewash, and sneak back into the zoo as rare albino chipmunks, fooling both Donald and Dolores into giving them more peanuts.Out on a Limb, 1950, Donald, as a tree surgeon, discovers the tree home of Chip an' Dale and decides to have sport. The chipmunks, unaware he is in the tree, think the tree pruner is a monster. Gags with pruner and lawn mower; Donald loses and has tantrum.Three for Breakfast, 1948, Chip and Dale try to get pancakes which Donald is making. Fork flies in and leaves with pancake on it. Continues until fork misses and sticks into pan of rubber cement, spilling on stove which forms rubber pancake. Donald replaces pancake with rubber cake. The chipmunks are frustrated, and the gag backfires on Donald.Dragon Around, 1954, Donald, a steamshovel operator, is clearing an excavation and must tear out the tree where the Chips are living. Chip and Dale have been reading a fairy tale and imagine the steamshovel is a dragon. When they see their home threatened, they set out to 'kill' the dragon. Donald decides he is going to have some fun and tease the Chips. In the course of the battle that ensues, the Chips manage to get into Donald's tool chest. With his wrench they unbolt the steamshovel, causing it to fall apart. Having thus 'slain' the "Dragon," they save their home.

It would have been nicer to get a seperate complete series set of these and include the three solo Chip n' Dale cartoons here instead.
The two 'accident' cartoons were previously released on VHS, edited together as one cartoon, on the Wonderful World of Disney show tapes. They do play well as one 15 minute cartoon. Those show tapes are interesting as they have new, exclusive to the TV show, animation not on these theatrical releases.
Hopefully those TV shows will get a DVD release some day.
The two other 2008 Disney Treasures releases are:
Dr Syn: The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh (From The Wonderful World Of Disney show)
Dr Syn-Scarecrow of Romney Marsh
The Mickey Mouse Club Presents: Annette (the serial from season 3)
Mickey Mouse Club Presents-Annette

In this final volume, our chronicle of Donald's solo-starring shorts wraps up with some of his rarely seen, feather ruffling adventures from 1951 through 1961. And, for the first time on DVD, Donald's CinemaScope cartoons are presented in their original widescreen format. This collection of classics includes two of Donald's Academy Awardr nominated Best Shorts -- "Rugged Bear" (1953) and "No Hunting" (1955); a retrospective of Donald's career in comic books; and a storyboard presentation for an unproduced Donald Duck cartoon pitched by famed Disney animator Eric Goldberg. From bit player to superstar, Donald gave voice to the frustrations of everyone and in the process endeared himself to the world. Featuring exclusive introductions by film historian Leonard Maltin, this is a timeless collection from generations past for generations to come.

What's New Scooby-Doo, Vol. 7 - Ghosts on the Go (2002) Review

What's New Scooby-Doo, Vol. 7 - Ghosts on the Go (2002)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
In this fun and mysterious volume, Scooby-Doo and the Mystery Inc. gang go to Italy, Scotland, Greece, and France to solve four different and original enigmatic mysteries! Like all of the previous "What's New Scooby-Doo?" episodes, they are harder to solve cases, than most of the ones featured in the old Scooby-Doo television series. I enjoyed watching this DVD because it's clearly for all ages, literally. These episodes are not meant to be JUST for kids, because I would say that about 90% of the adults with the right mind also have fun trying to solve the mysteries. These episodes, in particular, are four of the best ones picked from the entire show. Scooby-Doo mysteries are also funny, and these ones are no exception. With a lot of red-herrings on their way, the cases aren't easy to solve! They actually make you think - that's what makes them good.
Scooby-Doo, Shaggy, Fred, Daphne, and Velma must unmask a ZOMBIE GLADIATOR in Italy, as well as an enormous DRAGON in Scotland, and a CENTAUR on their trip to Greece! Let's not forget the flying GARGOYLE statue that comes to life in France!
The episodes and the grade I give them are as follow:
- Pompeii & Circumstance: A-
- Large Dragon at Large: A+
- It's Greek to Scooby-Doo: A+
- Ready to Scare: A
To make my point, this volume of the "What's New scooby-Doo?" series is a must have for any Scooby-Doo fan. If you like solving puzzles, try to crack these cses with 87 minutes of mysrery, laughter, and fun! Scooby-Doo is the best, and these episodes rock!!!

In Ghosts On The Go, the gang crosses the Atlantic Ocean and takes on Europe! In Large Dragon at Large, the gang attends a Renaissance Faire, where a dragon interrupts their fun. While traveling in Greece, an ancient myth apparently comes to life because of a medallion Shaggy wears in It's All Greek to Scooby. In Pompeii and Circumstance, the gang's Italian vacation is interrupted by misdeeds in teh ancient city of Pompeii, leading to an ominous visit into the mouth of th no so dormant Vesuvius. And finally, the gang goes to Paris to see Daphne's cousin become a model, but only to discover she's been abducted by a giant gargoyle in Ready To Scare.DVD Features:Challenges:European Travel Adventure Challenge A Scooby-Doo Vacation featurette -- the Mystery Gang brings you on a European tour, complete with Scooby snacks!Featurette

Scooby-Doo Meets Batman Review

Scooby-Doo Meets Batman
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The "Scooby Doo meets Batman" DVD is campy fun featuring the two appearances made by Batman & Robin on The New Scooby Doo Movies (1972-1973). In "The Dynamic Scooby Doo Affair", The gang teams up with Batman & Robin for a wacky showdown in the funhouse against the Joker & the Penguin. In "The Caped Crusader Caper", Batman & Robin join the gang to once again stop the crazy villainous duo Penguin & Joker, this time from attempting to steal a flying suit from the word fumbling Professor Flakey. There are some cool extras like elapsed time footage of animators drawing both Scooby & Shaggy and interview clips of the original voice actors. As cool as this DVD is though, you may want to instead invest in the upcoming 4 DVD set release "The Best of the New Scooby Doo Movies" featuring 15 out of the 24 that aired including both of these Batman & Robin episodes. However, if you're only interested in the Batman & Robin appearances then this DVD is for you.
Goofs:
*There are always some animation slip ups in cartoons, but not always as hilarious as Batman with no pants! Watch for it!
Trivia:
*"The New Scooby Doo Movies" are double the length of an episode of the original "Scooby Doo Where are You?" show. They were aired in an hour block. On DVD they run around 40 minutes each.
*"The Best of the New Scooby Doo Movies" 4 DVD box set features episodes with guests the Three Stooges, Jonathan Winters, Don Knotts, Laurel & Hardy, the Harlem Globetrotters, Don Adams, Speed Buggy, Mama Cass, and Dick Van Dyke. Curiously, episodes with the Addams Family, Phyllis Diller, Sonny & Cher, Sandy Duncan, Davy Jones, Jerry Reed, Tim Conway, toon characters Josie & the Pussycats and Jeannie & Babu were not included. Instead the set chooses to have the multiple appearances by the Stooges (2), Batman & Robin (2), Knotts (2) and the Globetrotters (3).

*Both Shaggy & Robin are voiced by radio personality Casey Kasem.
*The genius Don Messick who is of course Scooby also voiced Astro from the Jetsons, Droopy the dog, Boo Boo & Ranger Smith of Yogi fame, Dr. Quest & Bandit from Jonny Quest, Papa Smurf & Azrael from The Smurfs and that goofy dog Mutley from Wacky Races...just to name a few!

The Best of the New Scooby-Doo Movies (1972) Review

The Best of the New Scooby-Doo Movies (1972)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I gave this 3 stars because I am a huge Scooby fan and was a really disappointed to see the episodes that make up this DVD set. Heres the break down:
Disc 1
The Ghastly Ghost Town (with The Three Stooges)
The Dynamic Scooby Doo Affair (with Batman & Robin)
The Frickert Fracas (with Jonathan Winters)
Guess Who's Knott Coming to Dinner (with Don Knotts)
Disc 2
The Spooky Fog (with Don Knotts)
The Ghost of Bigfoot (a.k.a. "Scooby-Doo Meets Laurel & Hardy")
The Ghost of The Red Baron (with The Three Stooges)
The Ghostly Creeps from the Deep (with The Harlem Globetrotters)
Disc 3
The Caped Crusader Caper (with Batman & Robin)
The Lochness Mess (with The Harlem Globetrotters)
The Mystery of Haunted Island (with The Harlem Globetrotters)
The Exterminator (with Don Adams)
Disc 4
The Weird Winds of Winona (with Speed Buggy)
The Haunted Candy Factory (with "Mama" Cass Elliot)
The Haunted Carnival (a.k.a. "Scooby-Doo Meets Dick Van Dyke")
Don't forget that this has some "Stardusted" special features, probably found on the fourth disc:
Featurette: The Hanna-Barbera Kennel Club Roasts Scooby-Doo
Featurette: Uptown With Scooby-Doo and The Harlem Globetrotters
Featurette: The Girls Rock!
I am just glad they are releasing this series but if I made a best of compilation, I would have picked one episode of the returning guests (i.e. one harlem globetrotter rather than all three since these episodes have been previously released on DVD). This way I could include the great guest episodes like Sonny and Cher, Josie and the Pussycats, Phyllis Diller, Davey Jones, Addams Family, Sandy Duncan and Jerry Reed. These episodes I feel far surpass the Don Adams, Dick Van Dyke, the "Guess Who's Knott Coming to Dinner (with Don Knotts)", "The Ghost of The Red Baron (with The Three Stooges)", "The Mystery of Haunted Island (with The Harlem Globetrotters)" and the Laurel and Hardy episodes.
