Scott Cole's Discover Tai Chi for Beginners - Workout Essentials (2002) Review

"...because he is alive to difficulty. That is why he meets with no difficulty." ~Lao Tzu
Firstly this workout DVD has so many features it was quite amazing. If you are new to Tai Chi this is a perfect place to start. The music is soothing and exotic, the scenery is beautiful and the instructor's voice is calming.
Secondly, I could actually do the workout on the first try. Tai Chi looks difficult when it is done too quickly. On many other DVDs I felt that I could not learn the moves fast enough so I gave up. Scott Cole moves at a perfect pace.
Scott Cole focuses on guiding you through Tai Chi postures and training techniques. He blends martial and healing arts in order to empower you and motivate you to move in a healing direction. He was named one of the Top 5 Fitness Instructors in the world and has appeared in over 300 publications worldwide.

DVD Contents:
1. Play Features - Plays all the features
2. Chapter Selections - Pushing the Wave, Beautiful Woman Turns Her Waist, Grounded Chi Journey in Hawaii, Parting Horses Mane
3. Special Features - Postures with Narration, Postures With Music, Workbook Slideshow, Hawaii Workout to Music.
4. Audio Features - Dolby Digital 2.0 and 5.1
The benefits of this DVD are immediately apparent:
Renewed Strength
Upper Body Warming - blood flow definitely increases in the upper body.
Increased Flexibility
Increase in Energy and Confidence
This Tai Chi workout is the best I've ever tried. It was easy to learn the exercises and I also had a few great laughs because, well, some of the postures and movements are rather funny the first time you do them.
Once you have learned the moves you can then try the workouts with just music. Once you have memorized the workouts you may find yourself wanting to do the exercises outside. The exercise routines can be done almost anywhere and you need very little space to do them indoors at home.

Reba: Season 6 Review

Reba: Season 6

Please release Season 6 in Full Screen!
Why on Earth did they cancel this show? I compare this show to the likes of Lucy! It should have been shown on the mainstream TV channels. Funny, entertaining and a joy to watch. It will bring laughter into your home. There are not many shows that our entire family can sit down and enjoy together. The writers of this series are phenomenal!
All characters blend together to make this one of the best comedies in TV history! I'm so tired of reality shows that have consumed the airways. I fear shows like Reba will disappear into the sunset, and our society needs the laughter shows like this produce. I have season 1-5 and I cannot get enough of them.
However, the rush to get Season 5 out, you can tell FOX did a poor job in doing. The packaging was not as nice as Season 1-4. Not the caliber of quality they put into the first four Seasons. But SO very thankful they released it!
Thrilled that Scarlett Pomers character (Kyra) returned for Season 6.
I'm so sad that there will only be 13 more episodes released in Season 6, yet I will enjoy this show forever! I plan on doubling up my set to make sure I am never without this show.
Thank you Reba, and the entire cast, for the endless hours of laughter! We love you!

Conviction: The Complete Series (2006) Review

Conviction: The Complete Series (2006)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was a huge fan of District Attorney Alexandra Cabot on Law and Order: SVU, so I was thrilled when they brought her back as the bureau chief of a bunch of young district attorneys on Conviction. This show was marketed for different generation than the other Law and Orders, more specifically a younger demographic. These ADAs are in their late twenties, and know that there is little glory to be had with the cases that they're getting, but that they're fighting for something real. Their cases don't have the glitz and glamour of regular Law and Order, and there isn't always a sexual element like on SVU, but their determination and perseverance are a joy to watch.
Cabots group of young ADAs is comprised of:
Jim Steele: Steele is the Deputy Bureau Chief who has to take over when the other DBC is gunned down in the first episode. Steele is like his name, he is a man made of steel who tries to shape the younger attorneys looking up to him without becoming disillusioned himself. He's also in a relationship with one of them while secretly pining away for Cabot.
Nick Potter: Potter is the newest kid to join the bureau and is still wet behind the ears when it comes to criminal law. The other attorneys love to remind him of this and treat him like a rookie. Still he's determined to prove himself in their eyes and in Steele's after making a horrible mistake in the first episode.
Billy Desmond: Desmond is arrogant, cocky, and full of himself--but with good reason. He's undefeated in the courtroom (28-0) and he is determined to stay that way. He only takes cases that he can win and will even go as far to hand off a losing case to one of the other lawyers.
Christina Finn: Finn has been with bureau for two years and is still a little green in the courtroom. She gets her first case in the first episode and makes mistakes, but in an endearing way. Finn's like your little sister, you want to look after her because she keeps making the most charming mistakes. Her search for Mr. Right is one of the more lighthearted plot lines in the series.
Brian Peluso: Peluso is a smooth talker who spends as much time ducking the ladies who call him at the office as he does working on his cases. He has a mild flirtation with Finn, as well as a gambling problem that continues to rear its ugly head. Still he's Steele's right hand man and a great attorney.
Jessica Rossi: Rossi is a tough young attorney who has a weak spot for domestic abuse cases. She refuses to not prosecute wife beaters, even to her own detriment. Her relationship with Steele is a constant problem throughout the season.
I was so disappointed that this show got cancelled because it was really well written and a nice change from the others in the Dick Wolf series. I feel like the original Law and Order has gotten stale in recent years and it might be time to let it go. While SVU is still as great as ever, this was NBC's chance to add a little zest back into a floundering series. I highly recommend this show to people who enjoyed the original Law and Order back in the Angie Harmon years, and to those who like SVU. It's great to have Cabot back in the courtroom even if it is only on DVD.

The Sopranos: Season 6, Part 1 Review

The Sopranos: Season 6, Part 1
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
As someone who has actually bought this set I thought I might offer some real opinions as opposed to those of some idiot who's only contribution is he hates HD.
(note: at this time I have only watched the first two episodes)
The Audio
Audio is in Dolby Digital Plus and is sublime. As a drama series, dialogue is paramount and every syllable can be clearly discerned. Tony's signature laboured breathing comes through crystal clear. Background dialogue adds atmosphere and sounds like actual conversation, not just noise.
Surround information is not a strong point of this series, however, when needed it is there. In episode 2 the helicopter (of Tony's subconscious) utilizes all channels to great effect.
A strong point in the series is it's use of modern classic music. This is used to great effect and on the HD-DVD release is output evenly through all channels. The music here is better than any SA-CD or DVD-A I have heard and really gets me excited as to the possibility of music through the new format.
The Picture
I am a big fan of television on DVD having collected many series. That said, I am usually disappointed with the transfers afforded television series. Most suffer from artefacts due to over-compression to fit as many episodes on a disc as possible. So with that in mind I'll discuss the bad first.
There is some moiré effect in the background of some scenes. Early in the first episode I had one instance of a freeze which put the audio out of sync. Pausing and un-pausing fixed this and I could not replicate this effect so rather than blame the set, I suspect it is one of those bugs that comes with early technology and Gen 1 machines. There is some grain in the image, however, given the previous season's, this is an intentional decision on the makers part (it will be interesting to see what the advent of HD in the home will do to this practice as it is not very HD friendly). At one stage on the first episode the Picture quality faulted for a period of about ¼ of a second where in a dark scene it became almost SD standard. This was very quick but noticeable.
Now for the good, and boy is it good. The detail is spectacular (almost too good - these guys are getting on in age, and they never were the most attractive people, and that hole in Tony's stomach - I though it looked bad before but this is truly disgusting). I have never seen TV look this good - not even the so called HD broadcasts of these very same episodes on Australian TV came close to this. Most of the action is in the foreground of this series and as such the detail in background shots is not as sharp as some film releases, however, when the background is relevant all that detail comes back. Again I think this is a conscious decision on the makers part to keep the focus up close and on the characters.
Final Thoughts
Is this release perfect - no, it has some slight issues that could be improved upon. Was it worth getting in HD - absolutely. Even at a premium price over the SD release I will happily pick up more of my favourites on HD-DVD. Universal has given a tentative commitment to Battlestar Galactica on HD-DVD, BBC has stated a HD-DVD release of Torchwood is in the works (which means we will probably also see Dr Who as well). MGM has hinted at a release of Stargate: Atlantis on Blu-ray and I would highly suspect the 2 new SG-1 movies (in lieu of Season 11) will be released on Blu-ray around April/May. It is almost inevitable that Paramount will release Star Trek to High Definition (especially the re-mastered and re-worked High Def Original Series).
I collect more Television series than movies these days (well, television and anime) and I gotta say, if this is the future of serialized programming, then I am happy to have a HD-DVD player and should Blu-ray get their format specific series out, I'll be grabbing one of those machines too (you listening on those Stargate movies and series?).

Several crises threaten Tony and his crew; for starters, rival boss Johnny Sack (Vince Curatola) is in prison, and the always-tense relations between the New Jersey and New York families are strained through the unpredictable behavior of Sack?s surrogates. Then there are the inevitable power struggles that ensue when certain family members are eliminated, by natural and other causes.

I got this for my teenage sister. Wizards of Waverly Place is her favorite show and Selena Gomez is her idol. The thing I don't like is that you only get four episodes. It'd be better if Disney released full seasons of their shows rather than banking on $15 for just four episodes. They finally released Hannah Montana full seasons after releasing many 4 episode discs over the past couple years.

If you're reading this, it's probably because you already love one of the top sitcoms of the 1970s, The Bob Newhart Show, so I won't wax poetic about the greatness of the program. Instead, I'll let you know that this was the 1973-1974 season, and it consists of the following episodes:
THE LAST TV SHOW Bob's group has a televised session. A classic!
MOTEL A pretty girl is after Bob.
BACKLASH Bob throws his back out just before a planned Mexican vacation.
SOMEBODY DOWN HERE LIKES ME A reverend takes Bob's advice...and it backfires.
EMILY IN FOR CAROL Emily fills in for Carol, and Bob's not happy about it.
HAVE YOU MET MISS DIETZ? Jerry and Howard both date the same woman.
OLD MAN RIVERS Carol dates her much older doctor.
MR. EMILY HARTLEY Bob feels inferior when he finds Emily's IQ is higher than his.
MUTINY ON THE HARTLEY Bob raises his rates, and his patients revolt.
I'M OK, YOU'RE OK, SO WHAT'S WRONG? Emily wants to see a marriage counselor.
FIT, FAT, AND 41 Bob goes on a diet.
BLUES FOR MR. BORDEN Howard is depressed by news of his son's new "uncle."
MY WIFE BELONGS TO DADDY Bob feels he can't measure up to Emily's dad.
T.S. ELLIOTT Mr. (Elliott) Carlin dates Carol.
I'M DREAMING OF A SLIGHT CHRISTMAS It's Christmas Eve, and Bob is trapped in his office when the power goes out.
OH, BROTHER Jerry's brother shows up and takes over Jerry's life.
THE MODERNIZATION OF EMILY Emily feels old and decides to update her image. Yes, this is the classic "T-shirt with iron-on decal of lips and a cigarette" episode; aka: Chicken on a Stick.
THE JOBLESS CORPS Howard becomes Bob's patient after he loses his job.
CLINK SHRINK Bob's new patient is a parolee.
MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS Bob's new business manager has him living on a scanty allowance.
A LOVE STORY Howard falls for Bob's engaged sister.
BY THE WAY...YOU'RE FIRED Jerry decides to fire Carol.
CONFESSIONS OF AN ORTHODONTIST Jerry has a startling confession for Bob.
A MATTER OF PRINCIPAL Emily clashes with the school principal when she refuses to skip a student ahead two grades.
This was a great season for Bob. If you enjoy The Bob Newhart Show, buy this DVD set; you'll be glad you did.

Hot Wheels - Acceleracers - Ignition Review

Hot Wheels - Acceleracers - Ignition
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The story of Vert Wheeler and his racing friends that started on the "Hot Wheels World Race" DVD continues here.
"Vert" Wheeler is now a more experienced drivers with a street racing team called the Teku. The Teku Team have an intense rivalry with another team called the Metal Maniacs.
Both teams are recruited by Dr Tezla to drive in the "Racing Realms", which are other dimensional tracks that test a driver's racing skills to their extreme limit. Whoever reaches the finish line of each realm first receives an "Accelercharger", which grants the user's vehicle a special power (frictionless driving, hyperspeed, etc). Scattered throughout the realms are "Hyperpods", which the driver's car can attach to give it special abilities as well.
Unfortunately, the evil Gelorum has obtained the Wheel Of Power (see the Hot Wheels World Race DVD) and her robots will stop at nothing to obtain all the Accelerchargers!! If they do, they will be able to take over the world, which is NOT a good thing for us humans!
I have mixed feelings about the Acceleracer Series.
First, I (and especially my children) were thrilled to hear that more adventures with the Hot Wheels drivers that started on the World Race would be continued.
Secondly, the storyline is richer with many running subplots that will develop as future Acceleracer DVDs are released
But I have to seriously question several decisions that were made for this story:
- I do NOT support the fact that these drivers are street racers. While I'm sure it adds a "coolness" factor to the characters, why encourage a dangerous activity such as street racing?
- Also, the rival racing teams strongly resemble rival gangs. Again, why make this look fun and attractive to kids?
- The CGI animation for this series is much poorer than what was used in the World Race DVD. The drivers are now completely cartoonish with ridiculously proportioned features (check out those arms!).
- The violence content was seriously amped up from the World Race. My children were literally shocked at the opening sequence of this DVD when Dr Tezla was attacked by the drones, as there was nothing like that on the World Race DVD.
That being said, my children DO enjoy this DVD, and looks forward to the Hot Wheels Acceleracers: Speed Of Silence DVD that will be released in August. I would recommend this DVD for children 7 or older.
The Cartoon Network has already broadcast the third part of the Hot Wheels Accceleracers saga, Breaking Point, and will be airing the fourth episode Hot Wheels Accceleracers - The Ultimate Race on October 1st of 2005. If you missed part 3, they usually rebroadcast them the day before the new episode, so looks for it on Friday, September 30, 2005.
This DVD comes with 4 micro-episodes, that contain racing and plot elements in realms not shown in the main movie (the Lava Realm and the Cavern Realm). Othe bonus features include a gallery of the cars and bios of the drivers.
The adventures of these characters is continued in the Hot Wheels Acceleracers: Speed Of Silence DVD. And an earlier (and more kid friendly) adventure of these characters can be found on the Hot Wheels World Race DVD. See my reviews of those titles for more details.
P.S. - Note the car that Dr Tezla is driving at the beginning of this episode. You might see something like it later....

The Sopranos: Season 6, Part 2 (2007) Review

The Sopranos: Season 6, Part 2 (2007)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
So much of what's said abut the final season of The Sopranos refers to the last five minutes, as people unfortunately overlook the best nine episode string of the entire series.David Chase's last season of television's finest program is full of all the qualities that attracted viewers and critics for the past decade. Characters live in a world where death is a possibility each day, but aren't shown to be gods or royalty. Rather, viewers see in them all of the emotions experienced in every family, as Tony, Carmela, Christopher and the rest of the cast share their memorable loves, hates, dreams, failures...and meals.
Season 6.2 has three distinct parts. The first four episodes are "last moments in the sun" for some of the more important characters. Bobby and Janice retreat for a weekend on a lake with Tony and Carm; Johnny Sack battles a new enemy in prison; institutionalized Uncle Junior spends his last moments of sanity running a card game and mentoring a young killer; and Hesh fears for his safety when Tony owes him money and seems reluctant to pay.
Next, the season moves to the difficulties of AJ and Christopher and how both problems affect Tony. Tony takes a backseat to other characters in the opening episodes of the season, but he's never been more laid bare than in how he deals with his literal and figurative sons. As with the ambiguous nature of the show, Tony at times appears to be a heroic, thoughtful and brave, while other times, he's a monster.
Finally, the last two episodes end in the much anticipated war with New York, as successful and unsuccessful hits are targeted at the show's biggest players. A sense of closure is reached with Tony's relationships with his rivals, his crew, his family and the FBI, but as everyone in America knows, nothing concrete is declared about his future. Does he live? Does he go to prison? Will his crew survive? Those questions aren't answered, Chase`s last gift to his viewers, as people can continue turning this show over in their heads for years.
I wasn't there when The Tempest first played at the Globe, and I didn't see The Beatles at Candlestick Park. But Sunday Nights at 9pm on HBO, I saw my generation's finest contribution to pop culture and to literature, with the final season providing a closing act worthy of such a masterpiece.

Last year, Tony Soprano cheated death when he was shot by his now institutionalized Uncle Junior. While Tony continues to muse about his second chance at life, he faces a myriad of immediate, stress-inducing crises at home, at work and from the law. Tony's wife Carmela plans for a future she's not sure will arrive, and son AJ and daughter Meadow find that adulthood holds its own surprises. Meanwhile, at work, Tony comes to doubt the allegiances of many of those closest to him ¿ no one, not Paulie, Bobby, Silvio or even Christopher is above suspicion. The clock is ticking. Bleach Uncut Season 2 Box Set Review

Bleach Uncut Season 2 Box Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
While there are several other reviews regarding the show itself, I'm going to focus primarily on the technical aspects of the box set. After all, I figure if you're looking for season 2, you already know what the show is about.
The box set itself is sharp looking and made the same as the first season. It's made in 'book' format, which, in my opinion, is a lot more easy to handle than the usual fold-out box sets. While the first season had a poster of Ichigo with character reference sketches on the back of it, this Ichigo poster is blank on the back. There is no inclusion of a paper with the episode titles, which I wish they did. While all you see on the screen are episode numbers, each one does, indeed, have an official title that would make locating favorite episodes much easier.
The special on this set focuses on four voice actors: Michelle Ruff (Rukia), Wally Wingert (Renji), Spike Spencer (Hanataro), and Dan Woren (Byakuya). They discuss their opinions on their characters, as well as voice acting itself. I'm not sure how long it was, but it was long enough to enjoy.
If you are looking for good subtitles, these are mediocre. They pretty much keep to the dubbing 'rules'. For example, they don't keep character names as the Japanese VA says them, but always their first name. Chad is always put as 'Chad', even if Ichigo is not the one speaking. They also leave off any honorifics (-kun, -san, -chan, etc) in the subs. If you're picky about that (as I am), it can be pretty irritating. Viz releases always seem to be this way, however.
They sub the opening and ending themes as well.
While they claim the episodes are uncut, and the main body of the episodes are indeed whole, they do not include the Shinigami Golden shorts. I'm not sure if the Japanese DVD releases have them, but I know that they've started by now, even if all these particular episodes only are character introductory ones. I only hope that when they actually are little side stories, Viz includes them on the DVDs. This complaint is particularly confusing as they even dubbed Kon's announcement that they would start soon in one of the episode previews.
All that aside, $40 (as of today) is a fantastic price for an entire season of a great anime.

Desperate Housewives - The Complete First Season (2004) Review

Desperate Housewives - The Complete First Season (2004)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
"Desperate Housewives" is an absolute phenomenon! I remember I saw an advert on Channel 4 over here in England advertising this new show and just from the advert I knew I'd love it. So did 5 million other Brits who tuned in when the first episode premiered on January 5th 2005. Since that first episode the nation has been hooked. This is easily the most popular US-import show in the country and literally everyone at my college talks about it on a Thursday morning after the previous night's episode. I must confess, I watch it religiously on my own in our conservatory every Wednesday night and if anyone dare disturb me I will be seriously p***ed off!
In a world saturated with reality TV and bad talk shows, Desperate Housewives is a breath of fresh air. Creator Marc Cherry is a Godsend to women all over the world, and it was clear from the beginning that this show was going to become totally global. I mean I've heard stories about this show getting upwards of 30 million viewers in America! That's absolutely incredible, and this DVD will sell millions upon its release, trust me.
So what makes Desperate Housewives so addictive? For me, there are a number of things. Firstly, the cast is impeccable. The four main stars of the show are Teri Hatcher (who plays Susan Mayer), Marcia Cross (who plays Bree Van De Kamp), Felicity Huffman (who plays Lynette Scarvo) and the sensational Eva Longoria (who plays Gabrielle Solis). My personal favourite is Marcia Cross, because she is just so amazing. She is a gorgeous, fabulous gay icon and she is a true star! Her character is so particular. To begin with, we hate her, but over time she grows on you.
Secondly, I would say the blend of genres make this show effortlessly appealing. The mix of comedy and drama is achieved within a degree of perfection, tossing the viewer from laugh-out-loud moments to those moments of tension. It is a credit to the writers that they have sustained this throughout the entire first season. If we are to look at other successful shows such as Buffy, The X-Files, Friends, Will & Grace and Sex And The City, the pinnacle of excellence usually peaks after the first season, so for Desperate Housewives to hit the mark straight away sets the bar very high. I'm confident that they can improve the formula in the second season.
The imagery of the first season is just beautiful, too. The white picket fences, show home houses and lush green lawns define the show, and Wisteria Lane in general. However, they also serve as a major juxtaposition to the sensational storylines that bubble away under the surface. The murders, the affairs, the breakdowns and the shameful secrets are what keep us hanging on like vultures indeed, desperate, for more. Speaking of the storylines, they may not be the most original or inventive, but its with the amazing cast of actors that these storylines become something on their own entirely. So much happens in one episode that you may totally forget about it in the next! There is a small army of co-stars who decorate the sidewalks of the show as the spotlight falls on our four main characters and the troubles that revolve around them.
The season's main draw is the death of Mary Alice Young, and why she chose to kill herself with a revolver. This question is carried throughout the whole season, from the very first few minutes of the pilot episode where we see her kill herself. Details are gradually revealed throughout the season as the plot thickens. I'm not going to go into much detail about this storyline, or indeed the many others that make this season so jam-packed, because I'm sure you know it all yourself, but what I will say is that I love the way the characters are portrayed. There's a sense of fantasy about the whole neighborhood, in that everyone is a nosey beggar and wants to know everyone else's business. One such example is Mrs. Huber. The way death doesn't seem to affect many of the show's characters is also part of its appeal, as the show adopts an almost retro look at classic comedies with nifty stories and camp backdrops.
OVERALL GRADE: 10/10
After so many of my favourite TV shows ended in 2003 and 2004, I was looking for something new to watch, but I never thought I'd find something as brilliant as Desperate Housewives. I say find, when really I should say 'realise' because this show has hit like a tidal wave. I sure will be buying the first season on DVD when it is finally released over here in the UK, and I'm sure you need no motivation from me to buy it as well! This review merely serves as a culmination of TV's biggest phenomenon. Here's to many more great years to come!

Ghost Hunters - The Complete First Season (2004) Review

Ghost Hunters - The Complete First Season (2004)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Ever wanted to hunt ghosts? Ever wanted to know how to fix that leaky faucet? Well, you're in luck if you pick up "Ghost Hunters: The Complete First Season." Stars Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson, the plumbers-by-day/ghost-hunters by night, are two of the best guys on television these days. Why? For the simple fact that they, along with the rest of the members of TAPS, don't seem to be doing this reality series for their own profit, but for the profit of their clients and any and everyone who has ever been interested in hunting ghosts or other paranormal entities.
On this DVD set, you can follow Jason, Grant, Brian, Steve, and the rest of the TAPS(The Atlantic Paranormal Society) gang as they travel across the country in search of so-called haunted places. I tag them "so-called" because TAPS attempts to disprove that a haunting actually exists at each location. Sometimes they can prove it, other times they can't. In fact, most of the places they visit in season one turn up very little proof of actual hauntings. The few times that they do find evidence, it's usually pretty shocking.
Each episode covers cases where we get to see the ups and downs of investigating haunts. Sometimes Jason yells at Brian. Okay, MOST of the time, Jason yells at Brian. Other times, the group grabs some amazing footage. Every once in awhile, the group comes across something that they cannot disprove. Much of the time, they can dismiss "hauntings" as overactive imaginations, old, creaky houses, or just plain ol' dust.
What really grabbed me about TAPS is that they go into each investigation expecting to find nothing. Jason and Grant, and Andy as the series progressed, could often pick up on what was causing a "haunt" very quickly. When they couldn't place something, they were still very slow to use the "H" word.
The group works together in almost soap opera-like fashion. They gripe amongst themselves, they laugh, and they have a deep concern for each others safety as well as that of their many clients. They come off as very professional and very serious about their work.
We also get to look into the normal side of Jason and Grant's lives as Roto-Rooter plumbers. If you listen carefully, you can also nab a tip here and there about plumbing.
With EVPs, video evidence, and some great team members, Season One of "Ghost Hunters" is a great buy worthy of repeat viewings. There are a few deleted scenes and a paranormal dictionary included on the discs, but the really good stuff is the investigations. They are fun to watch and sometimes they will pick at your brain as you try to take in what you see, such as a chair moving by itself and a few other strange things. The DVD can be grainy at times, making dark scenes even darker, but overall this is a great collection to own. Also, there's a coupon good until the end of this year with which you can buy two TAPS shirts for the price of one. Who could ask for more?
Great job TAPS, this ain't your typical cemetary hopping ghost hunts. This is serious investigation with heart.
Highly recommended.

The Incredible Hulk: The Complete Series Review

My 6 year old son had been talking about the Hulk for several months, he plays with Hulk games as well as the on-line game. I remember telling him about the television show and how I used to watch this show every week when I was growing up.
Well a few days before Christmas this year I decided to search for the Hulk television show in the hopes that I might be able to buy the entire series. I had no idea if it was even available and it was. When I factor in the hours and hours of entertainment that this gift has brought this is an amazing deal. I figured if my son, wife and 4 year old daughter didn't watch it, I would. Well as soon as the Hulk arrived and I put on the first episode EVERYONE was glued to the tv. My wife, who never saw the original tv show and a person I did not think would be into this said, "I love it, this is really a very well done show".
We are taking our time watching the series and watch about 3 episodes a week. We are now up to the end of season two. I have no idea what I am going to do when this is over. Ahead of the series being over I think I am going to buy the 3 Hulk movies that Bill Bixby did. A great gift.

The Twilight Zone - The Complete Series (Season One) (2002) Review

The Twilight Zone - The Complete Series (Season One) (2002)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Be warned. This is the 2002 version of The Twilight Zone and is the third and least effective version of the show.
It is hosted by actor Forrest Whittaker, who for some unexplained reason walks around while introducing episodes. The clueless producers thought that this would be an effective way of introducing the episodes,it wasn't.A voiceover would have been better as the 1985 version used.
There is one particularly offensive episode on racism where a white man is portrayed as a racist because, while in the middle of the city in the darkness of night,he wouldn't let a black stranger into his car after the stranger banged on his window and yelled "let me in".
How many people would let any stranger into their car in the middle of the city at night, especially when the stranger is banging on the window and yelling at them?
That just shows how badly written and produced this series was. The complete unfairness of this premise somehow escaped the producers.
There are also many other episodes that meander on with weak stories and lame resolutions. So disorganised was the production of this show that they had to copy no less that three stories from the original Rod Serling version in just this one season.
The three versions of The Twilight Zone comprise-
1st version-The original Emmy award winning version hosted by writer Rod Serling that premiered in 1959 and ran for five seasons.
2nd version-The eccellent and under-rated 1985-87 version which had a third season padded on after it's cancellation to get enough episodes for syndication. This version had scripts by some of science fiction's best writers.
3rd version-This DVD set, which is the disappointing 2002 version that was cancelled after only one season.
I personally am going to wait for the 1985 version as it is much better than this 2002 Twilight Zone, which has some very poorly written episodes.
The publicity blurb of this 2002 version sums it up-"with today's hippest young stars"-the Twilight Zone is not supposed to be MTV. In fact, the Twilight Zones sites that cover the original version have boycotted it because they consider that it is not true Twilight Zone.
One of this series producers is Pen Densham, the appalling producer that was responsible for turning the new 1990's version of The Outer Limits into a soft-core porn show. Clearly, this man has no idea of what makes true science fiction.
All in all, this is a very disappointing version of the series and is very badly produced.Avoid it.

Weeds: Season Two (2005) Review

Weeds: Season Two (2005)
Average Reviews:

Yes, it's a drama all right, despite the half-hour format. The tone of its second season reminds me more than anything of the venerable "Six Feet Under": it's extremely funny, and extremely smart, and it moves from ultra-dry sitcom territory into much darker places (and back) without warning or apology.
"Weeds" casts its satirical throwing stars in 360 degrees. While drug warriors get their well-justified comeuppance, we more libertarian types don't get off exactly scot-free. Just the right medicine when it comes to a debate that's been all but shut down in more mainstream circles.
Not that you need to have an opinion about pot politics to enjoy the razor-sharp dialogue or, failing that, Mary-Louise Parker's big brown eyes and diabolical deadpan delivery.

Funnier, darker and more daring, the second season of this acclaimed Showtime series reaches a higher ground. Golden Globe winner Mary-Louise Parker stars as Nancy Botwin, the soccer mom who had to learn how to deal - pot, that is - after the death of her husband. Now, her business is a hit. But keeping up with the neighbors in this suburban utopia isn't easy. She's joined up with a few of her closest friends, and together they're facing life's highs and lows - because even in paradise, nobody's perfect. Don't miss WEEDS, an addictive comedy, the highest grade TV has to offer.

Prison Break: Season Three Review

Prison Break: Season Three
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
As the third season of Prison Break begins, Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) finds himself back in prison, only this time it's a down and dirty prison in Panama ruled by the tyrannical Lechero (The Wire's Robert Wisdom). Also sharing space with Michael are T-Bag (Robert Knepper), Bellick (Wade Williams), and Mahone (William Fichtner); while Linc (Dominic Purcell) works on the outside to get his brother free at any cost, with the assistance of a mysterious associate (Jodi Lyn O'Keefe) who has her own agenda. The third season of Prison Break manages to provide pretty much the same kinds of action, suspense, drama, and twists that fans of the series would come to expect by now; which adds up to this season being a success. However, falling victim to the writer's strike, the third season of Prison Break ends up feeling rushed and somewhat incomplete. At only 13 episodes, this is something to be expected, but it still comes off as noticeable nonetheless. Flaws aside, this is still great TV to be seen, and everyone in it is in fine form as well. All in all, the third season of Prison Break while flawed, is still enjoyable, and sets the stage for even bigger developments to follow.

Almost 10 years ago, I got these in video form. As a beginner, who had a total lifestyle change to include my diet, Mrs. Fonda's Personal Trainer series really helped me lose weight, tone up, and be fit. I lost 20 lbs and have kept it off. I also had success after I had my son when I used her videos in combination with a 2 mile run 5 days a week. I also recieved complements on how my body looked, many people would ask me if I was a gymnast!:) Her workouts and fitness philosophy are right on. I highly recommend this series for anyone just starting out. They are easy on the joints, and have three women who demonstrate basic, intermediate, and advanced levels in each workout, as well as lead some of the workouts, so its not all Jane. The workouts really have some great basic moves for learning about the body in toning and stretch. The aerobics get the heart rate up, and the moves are simple. The aerobics section does require a little bit of space, enough to walk about 5 paces in each direction. I've moved up in my fitness level, but I still use this series for toning, stretch and when I just want to burn a few extra calories. I alternate my workouts with other videos like Gilad, Kaehler, and the 8min(ABS/BUNS)etc series, and I recommend these too.
