Dr. Wayne Dyer - How to Get What You Really Really Want / Improve Your Life Using the Wisdom of the Ages (1998) Review

Dr. Wayne Dyer - How to Get What You Really Really Want / Improve Your Life Using the Wisdom of the Ages (1998)

On my bedside table a tiny smooth stone sits quietly. The word "Believe" is engraved in the beautiful mustard colored stone. When I see this stone I remember to believe in the future and to have faith in my dreams.
To me, Wayne Dyer's words are like smooth stones that "speak out" wisdom. I want to put them all in the pocket of my soul and carry them with me wherever I go. The wisdom is then ready for me to toss into the pool of my own consciousness. The ripples can then move through my life and awaken my soul to move towards enlightenment.
In the first video: "How To Get What You Really, Really, Really, Really Want," you will literally be on the edge of your seat hanging on every word you are hearing. His presence, even on video, is very powerful and awakens something deep inside of you. The craving for truth can be a very powerful emotion which draws us to those who have truth. Wayne has researched truth through the ages and speaks confidently from a wealth of knowledge and personal experience.
Everyone wants to find meaning in life and Wayne explains how we can get what we want by first wishing, then desiring (asking). We then move to a point where we use our "will" to show "intention." In the final stage we develop a passion for life and for our purpose. We simply become what we think we can become.
In this first video I felt that I was a student who was ready to learn and the teacher appeared! You will feel inspired by this wonderful journey of spiritual discovery.
In the second video: "Improve Your Life Using The Wisdom Of The Ages," Wayne explains how "highly functioning" individuals are too busy "being" to worry about what people think of them. They are not controlled by the opinion of others.
I was so captivated by his every word. He explained the philosophy of how people through the ages have all believed in a world beyond the physical and that they have felt spiritually connected to this world.
Wayne also gives an introduction to his book: "Wisdom of the Ages: 60 days to Enlightenment." This is a book filled with quotes and passages from 60 "masters" of life. They did what they loved and loved what they did. They chose to advance confidently in the direction of their own dreams. They lived their lives by cultivating their own garden. They had no concept of failure and lived their lives with enthusiasm. These teachers had profound wisdom to share and Wayne Dyer researched their lives and their writings and then wrote a message to us about what he though they would want us to know in this day and age. He also tells a wonderful fable about a cat in this video.
Do you want to feel blissful in your life? Is there someone in your life who causes you to react in a negative way? Do you want to find the path to peace? As you walk the path of enlightenment with Wayne Dyer, pick up the smooth stones of wisdom along the way. Put them in your pocket. You never know when you might need some inspiration once you get back to walking your own path in life.
It has always been my theory that when you seek out truth and find it, you will know it for what it is.

Doomsday 2012 DVD Review

Doomsday 2012 DVD
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This film makes a worth-while addition to the series of films about ancient and recent prophecies regarding the alleged end of days on December 21, 2012. It certainly makes better viewing than the recent fictional film 2012. This one does not give much screen time to Nostradamus; that has been done in the History Channel film of that name. Since I have reviewed that DVD elsewhere on Amazon, I won't dwell on it here. This film DOOMSDAY 2012 stands on its own merits because it introduces information not touched upon in the former film -- e.g., the real Merlin called Myrddin in the Welsh, the sylbils from ancient Greece and Rome, and even a computer program called WEB BOT, which inadvertently made predictions about 9/11 and 2012 it was not originally created to make. This film also gives more attention to The Revelations of St. John in the Bible.
Of course, we have heard or read about the predictions of the star-gazing Mayans, the Hopis, the Egyptians, and the Masons. Persons we may not have heard about are such characters as Mother Shipton (Ursula Southill) and a real-life seer named Myrddin, perhaps the basis for the fictional Merlin in the King Arthur stories. It also gives needed attention to the ancient Chinese oracle the I Ching, a system of divination that pre-dates the others we have heard about. In fact, this film consults (no pun intended) just about every oracle except the Tarot and the Runes.
The filming of these programs is astonishingly well-done and credit should be given to the efforts of the producers and cinematographers. Credit should also be given to this program in particular for including the skeptics who want to share their "rational" perspectives on this topic. These are quality productions, not throwaway cheap-o commercial efforts like those we have seen, even theatrically, in the past. Footage from various quarters is well-chosen and skillfully included to aid the interviews with the experts on both side of the controversy.
When I showed this DVD to some Chinese students recently, I was aware of some wide-eyed reactions. One young lady, noted for her insightful comments in my classes, asked me if I believed that this could happen. I was hesitant to answer because I am aware of the impact that statements made by a professor can have. I told her that I thought the evidence was credible and well-presented -- convincing enough as an argument. As this and other programs have emphasized, we have choices. Being aware of these choices gives us the responsibility to try to influence actions that will benefit all mankind. What else can I say -- that I am totally convinced that the world will end on December 21, 2012? I am not. Do I think that significant changes may occur that may alter our existence as we know it? I think it is a distinct possibility. We have seen some of these events already -- earthquakes in Haiti and Chile, tidal waves, global warming indications, a sink hole opening up in Guatemala, a chunk of Antarctica the size of Rhode Island (exactly as predicted in the fictional film THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW) falling into the ocean. I grew up on the Mississippi River and saw what flood devastation could do. I saw what the waterfront of St. Louis looked like after it had been inundated. I have seen flooding in south Georgia (in the US), and the images of floating coffins after graveyards had been violated by torrents of water will also remain in my memory.
I cannot help but remember how frightened many people were about what would happen to worldwide computers at the end of 1999. I remember seeing people loading up their carts with water in the food markets. I also remember what a graduate professor once told me when I was writing about the lost continent of Atlantis and apocalyptic literature regarding the many times that the end of the world had been predicted in the past, which is also mentioned in this film. As she put it, many people don't want to consider the fact that the world might continue long after they are gone -- an interesting perspective, I thought.
However, it is apparent to many of us that to ignore the possibilities of future world-wide devastation is naive.
Then again, remaining naive is what we do best, isn't it? After all, it beats thinking every time.

It is a doomsday that is foretold in the Mayan calendar, the Chinese oracle of the I Ching...even in an Internet-based prophetic software program: December 21st, 2012. Is there any truth to the prophecy that the world will end on that specific date? And why do so many oracles throughout history seem to point to that same dreaded doomsday? This fascinating special cuts through the myths and offers a fact-based examination of the Doomsday prophecy. Also included is a bonus documentary: MAYAN DOOMSDAY PROPHECY which delves even deeper into meaning behind the Mayans and their apocalyptic calendar.

Beyond the Secret (2009) Review

Beyond the Secret (2009)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Ok first of all I have been studying metaphysics and the law of attraction for over 20 years. Many deliberate manifestations so yes it does work. Oh and I do "get it" even if this review is negative. Sorry this movie was just not all that good.
I was hoping for another secret must like us fans of the movie "Aliens" have been wanting another "Aliens" and all squeals have fallen short.
And unfortunately this film falls short of what I was also wanting another "The Secret" the Original Edition (which I have watched at least 100 times.) Not the "Extended Edition" which should be named "We cut Ester Hicks/Abraham-Hicks out becuase we did not want to honor our royalty agreement any longer" The vibration and feeling it totally different. But I digress back to this film.
First off the production values are awful, bad green screen, the picture looks pixelated and it make me feel like they just don't care enough to do it right. If your going to ride on the success of the secret and sell to the same audience which is what they are attempting to do by calling it "Beyond The Secret" then you MUST have the same level of production and visual quality or you are going to disappoint people(becuase the secret was a pleasure to watch.) That's just smart marketing. Being what this movie is they should have given it a different name because the Secret is a hard act to follow.
Now for the content...becuase I don't mind watching a straight up lecture with a person standing at the podium shot on a home video camera if the content is good.
Next this is not really "Beyond" it more like "The Remedial Secret" or "Special Ed Secret" for people not ready to manifest on higher levels.
It starts with Bob Proctor basically says most of what he said in the secret but less of the important stuff on the subconscious mind.
Most of this movie is about getting you to take action rather than just doing the visualization. It makes it sound like more work which many people feel is what should be taught and thought that "The Secret" was just pie in the sky and not realistic and left that out. Yet funny how so many people have stories of manifestations including myself.
The truth is there are many different levels of Manifestation from those that require work to those that do not require anything but intent and desire(I personally enjoy the later the most) This film is for those that want to manifest on the first level and are not ready to move on to higher levels of manifestation yet in my opinion. I have manifested with work and really with almost none at all in life. So all levels have their place. But hey you have to walk before you can run and it all depends on your goals as well some do require physical work.
For me I did not find this all that informative (but I have been studying 20 years I did not learn much from "The Secret" but it really inspired me) So if you are new to this stuff you might learn some good things here.
To me it was not all that inspiring and actually rather limiting in terms of what is possible and how you can achieve it.
This film at times seems to seek to take the "Hows" back from the universe and get you to figure out the "Hows" yourself and one author even gives you very good process on how to do this by moving beyond your own limited thinking.
Let me sum it up this way. The way I found "The Secret" I had been studying Law of Attraction and out of the blue someone me sent me a link to a let's say free version of "The Secret" on the internet I watched it and was filled with joy and empowered. Right after I looked for "The Secret" Web site and ordered the DVD becuase I WANTED to pay them for that amazing, empowering work they produced. I bought several more copies until the pulled the "Extended Version Scam" Which totally turned me off. You can actually feel the vibrational difference between the two.
If today someone had sent me a link "Beyond The Secret" after watching it I would have just deleted it and be glad I did have to pay to see it.
Over all nothing has come close to the Original Secret Movie yet and I have seen and own almost all of them...
The Secret *****
The Secret Extended ***
The Secret Behind The Secret **** (This is the best for just Law of Attraction Information)
Pass It On *** (like this movie but focused more on business techniques/advice)
The Moses Code ** (Depressing in my opinion, not a feel good movie)
You can Heal Your Life **** (but the audio track was too low, maybe fixed now I hope?)
What the Bleep **** (Started this whole industry)
What the Bleep Down The Rabbit Hole ***** Great 6 hours on random play!
DeePak Chopra How to Know GOD **** (Great for a deeper view of the quantum filed and GOD)
If this movie is right for you then you will be attracted to it and get something from it. I personally feel your time would be better spent using Tony Robbins Get The Edge if you want practical first level manifestation information, 10 x the cost but worth every penny!

I am a veterinarian and I see many behavioral problems. I have euthanized many animals that have taken control of their owners. I am also a college biology instructor and I can assure you that Cesar's methods are right on. Dogs are pack animals, all of them, from pekinese to border collie. They can never escape their genetic background as pack dominated social animals. Cesar uses that pack energy to establish order. The person who talks about pain and intimidation never watched the show. His methods are far more humane than prong collars and crates. I have used his techniques with my clients and have had great success. I thank him daily. Be the pack leader, watch this DVD

Finding Your life's Purpose (2008) Review

Finding Your life's Purpose (2008)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This DVD is very clear and practical. If you only watch or listen to one program by Eckhart Tolle, this is the one to get. Most human beings live in a virtual reality world of mental constructs, and they rarely experience the richness of this moment. They are continually looking for a purpose in the future, while missing their primary purpose: to fully experience What Is, in this moment. On this DVD, Eckhart discusses:
* The concept of Time. I've never heard it explained so clearly. There is no past and no future. All that we call "time" is a mental abstraction. We rush around wishing we had more time, and all we have is this moment. His discussion on Time brings the topic back to your purpose: to live your life in this moment (rather than wasting it living in mental abstraction).
* Achievement vs. Purpose. Eckhart travels the world speaking and teaching, and has certainly achieved far more than most people. His achievements and efforts have arisen out of the present moment awareness that he lives in. When your focus is on the end result, and in the process of achieving that result, you miss your real purpose (finding your sense of home, self and completeness in this moment), your achievements take on far less meaning. Let your motivation for achievement arise out of the completeness of being IN your purpose (as opposed to trying to complete yourself by achieving some purpose you made up in your head).
----
Contrary to the one-star reviewer of this DVD's opinion, Eckhart is not suggesting finding your purpose in sitting on the couch, eating & watching Oprah all day. But of course, Jesus never advocated many of the things that have been said and done in the name of Christianity either. Those who have ears to hear tend to hear, and the rest walk away with more mental constructs to add to their virtual selves.
This DVD isn't just for people looking for their first Eckhart Tolle experience. If you have been reading, listening to and watching Eckhart for years this DVD is well worth the investment.
Most people want to find their purpose because they are looking for completion, for fulfillment, and to be all they can be. This DVD will show you where to find that purpose. As to what you do, what you accomplish, what you achieve, etc... that's something else.
So here's the big question: If you are completely fulfilled, will you be motivated to do anything, or will you just sit around, eat and watch Oprah? Some people think you have to be unfulfilled in order to accomplish anything. They seem to think that all achievement arises out of unfulfillment. This philosophy turns you into a Human Doing; looking for that next achievement to complete your self. But you never get there. Human Beings find their purpose in Being. Out of that place of completion and fulfillment they achieve great things.
I wouldn't have taken the time to write this review, but I initially saw the one-star review and didn't want people to miss a great DVD for the wrong reasons.

If you ve been searching in vain to find your true purpose in life, Echkhart Tolle has some straightforward advice: stop struggling. For the primary purpose of every human being is simply to be-fully engaged in this moment, aligned with the natural flow of reality itself. On Finding Your Life Purpose, the bestselling author of A New Earth invites viewers to discover the twofold intention of our human incarnation: first, to free yourself from thought-based reality and its inherent dissatisfaction; and, second, to express in your own way the grand vision that universal consciousness has for your life.

This 3 DVD set is a wonderful expression of the love and wisdom that Abraham shares through Esther Hicks. The love, kindness, patience, humor and the beauty of their non-judgment is apparent in every question answered. The unwavering gentleness that accompanies every answer soothes the nervous and breathes life into the answers we already knew at our core. If you've read the books, listened to the tapes or attended a workshop, the answers sound familiar and ring true as you vibrate in harmony with the message. You can literally SEE the relief on the faces of the people. SEE the joy, the recognition, the remembering if you will and it is truly a beautiful shared experience. If you have attended workshops before, you will have this treasure to enjoy over and over again. If you have not yet had the chance, rest assured that absolutely NOTHING is lost in the translation. A very worth while purchase. Thank you Esther, Jerry and Abraham.

Brother Sun, Sister Moon (1972) Review

Brother Sun, Sister Moon (1972)
Average Reviews:

I am a member of the Franciscan Third Order and fell in love with this movie back when I was only 13. (I'm now 34) This movie is definitely a product of the 60's - but the message is timeless. I feel badly that the review by Amazon was so discouraging. I would not want anyone to read that and make a judgement.
The movie represents, in my opinion, the true beauty of the Franciscan charism. The joy, simplicity and love that our Saint Francis embodied. I felt that Mr. Faulkner was an EXCELLENT choice for the lead role - he couldn't have been any closer to what I imagine Francis being. The director, Franco Zeffirelli, has done notable films ("Endless Love" NOT among his best). If you are a fan of the famous "Jesus of Nazareth", then I would suggest viewing this. In any case, this is a wonderful little film to get you acquainted with this timeless saint.
One bit of trivia - Sir Alec Guinness wanted to play the part of the Pope - as he had just converted to Catholicism not long before the making of this film. :-)
Hope this rudimentary review helped!

The Shift Review

The Shift

In the last 8 to 9 years Dr. Dyer's message has changed significantly. He went from self help psychology to spiritual transformation. I got a little lost. I tend to be a pragmatist..."give me proof" type person. His story was a bit above my head. This film is very much a narrative of what he's been trying to get through. It helps connect the dots. It was also very nicely done, well acted, very nice scenery.
It's a very good film and I recommend it.
In 2000 I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Dyer at a seminar he was putting on at Washburn High School in Minneapolis. I doubt he'd remember who I am, there were hundreds of us. He stayed and talked to anyone and everyone that wanted to talk to him. It was hours! He is one of the most peaceful people that I have ever encountered. I can say that he practice what he preaches, he is in service of others. I think I get it now,...Dr. Dyer...It took 9 years...but I get it. Namaste! Thanks for the lovely film.

Originally produced under the title, Ambition to Meaning. In this compelling film, Dr. Wayne W. Dyer explores the spiritual journey from ambition to meaning. The powerful shift from the ego constructs we are taught early in life by parents and society - which promote an emphasis on achievement and accumulation - are shown in contrast to a life of meaning, focused on serving and giving back. Through the intertwined stories of an overachieving businessman, a mother of two seeking her own expression in the world, and a director trying to make a name for himself, this entertaining film not only inspires, but also teaches us how to create a life of meaning and purpose.

What the Bleep? - Down the Rabbit Hole (QUANTUM Three-Disc Special Edition) Review

What the Bleep - Down the Rabbit Hole (QUANTUM Three-Disc Special Edition)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This revised edition contains most of what was in the first edition, however it seems to have been put together in a more coherent and understandable format. Additional interviews and animations were added to accomplish this. If you are interested in learning about quantum physics, and dramatically increasing your understanding of reality, this is an entertaining way to do so. However, it should be mentioned that the information is presented in a very rapid manner, for the most part. For the average person, it may take several viewings to be able to adequately comprehend some of the concepts that are being discussed.
Plus as a bonus, DVDs #2 and 3 contain an unedited version of the movie, which is about 5 hours of information, about half of which is in the edited version. There is a feature that allows you to turn off the "drama" sequences which is nice. There is also a random generator feature that switches around the order of the information, I think. I didn't try this feature because the original layout has been ordered in a coherent manner, and I believe it would make it difficult to follow the content if it weren't done like this, but I can't say for sure. I still have yet to watch the 6+ hours of interviews that are contained on the reverse side of the 3 DVDs. Anyways great movie! I always feel empowered after watching it.

Chonda Pierce Did I Say That Out Loud? Review

Chonda Pierce Did I Say That Out Loud
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
A MAN REVIEWING CHONDA PIERCE FIRST. Saints preserve us! Chonda will be man-bashing me in her next stand-up routine, for being the 1st Amazon reviewer of "Did I Say That Out Loud?" This DVD was my wife's gift from her girl-friend, and I watched too. Have to admit she had me laughing-out-loud at times, snickering more, also smiling, and catching a few of her man-shots aimed at the gents because most of her live audience was the girls-of all ages.
Chonda is a Christian Phyllis Diller. She makes fun of herself, a fast-paced self-bashing comedienne who often laughs along with her audience, like the late Red Skelton. Leave it to a man to compare Chonda to a male. Sorry girls. She loves to use the line "In't tha-at pree-cious?" No topic is sacred while performing at World Outreach Church, Murfreesburo, TN, her claimed hometown.
Her stand-up routine is followed with a question & answer session proving her impromptu comedy is at peak performance. Then, by audience request, Chonda sings "Story of my Life" (words/music by Shannon Werelberg). Chonda Pierce has a nice voice that is as surprising as the male comedian Gomer Pyle (Jim Nabors). Her southern drawl (without the belle status) is similar to Nabors, but is negligible once the music begins, like Jim. "Blessed Assurance" is performed vocally during the DVD credits, with a comical added insertion (and I'll not ruin the surprise) within.
DVD has no subtitles or CC. Audio Format offers 2.0 Dolby Digital Stereo or 5.1 Dolby Surround.
My vote was 4 stars, but thinking it might be higher for women, I asked my wife. She said 4 as well. She liked Chonda in "This Ain't Prettyville" better.
Good Christian comedy, fit for the family, but the gals will gain the most. (I should have said that better.)
